^ by your requirements, tignan nyo narin sir, ano talaga mga kailangan niyo. who knows later, baka kailanganin niyo rin ng external media player pala =))
I have Sony 2016 x80D, below are its prowess per testing:
- if you're only playing downloaded movies in DTS/Dolby Digital
-- via Kodi/SPMC, the Sony Android TV can decode it
-- via Kodi/SPMC, the 4K (even HDR) can play without hiccups
-- no problem since HDMI ARC or Toslink port can pass-through upto 6ch audio to AVR or soundbar
-- it can read upto 4TB external harddisk -- I'm using its USB 3.0 port playing 4K (even HDR)
-- it can read external harddisk on NTFS or exFAT
-- on Netflix, check if you'll get upto 2K or 4K streaming - haven't been into Netflix yet. so I don't know if Sony's 1GB RAM can manage the bufferings
-- on Youtube, I only get upto 1080p streaming -- mabagal pa kasi ang internet ko
what it cannot do for now is, decode Atmos nor pass-through HD-audio (8ch and up). but it can decode DTS:X -- it just downmix it so you only get to enjoy its DTS 6ch core. at least with DTS, Inc. they gave us the flexibility of what equipment we have
maybe soon, in 2019 or 2020 major TV brands will include HDMI e-ARC port. this time, with HDMI v2.1 it can pass-through HD audio upto 32ch (they said). i bet this time, we'll really not need an external media player anymore =))
