If you look at where all these previous AI winners come from, you'd understand why Jessica Sanchez lost.

What are you talking about? Jessica Sanchez is an AMERICAN.

And as I said, it is not RACISM that made Phil won over Jessica. The audience that watches the show are mostly tween girls and their mothers and they like pop rock guys who play guitars a la John Mayer. That is all. Nothing to do with race.

I'm sorry, but I find that hard to believe. You mean even if PP is of an Asian ethnicity and rocked like John Mayer he would've still won in AI?

Contestants from the South tend to win over contestants from the North and from the coasts because a huge bulk of Idol viewers and fans come from there.

american idol will always be a popularity contest but off course every finalist deserves that slot after all everyone can sing well, there will always be someone who sings the best compared to the rest but at the end of the day, votes will determine the winner, the voting public prefers the singing style, over all presentation of the winner but we should not feel bad about it, the contest is merely a jumping board for the contestants, the actual determination of winning is what happens after the contest.

Jessica may not have been the AI for this season but what happens after this contest is what will make her a winner or not, we have already seen several non champions who have become more successful than the champion.

i don't feel bad as well because being a runner-up in a hotly contested competition is a tremenduous feat in itself. i mean, ilan ba ang nag auditions? tapos umabot ka sa final battle, ang galing na nun. jessica can take whatever she can, the experience, the exposure and the knowledge to further her singing career. matind na yung ginawa niya so we should all be happy. ganyan talaga ang contest, may talunan at may nagwawagi

I doubt they base their votes on race. It's just the overall appeal. If an Asian guy auditions who have the same cute appeal of Phillip Philipps, I'm sure he can go far but there aren't a lot of Asian guys who have auditioned who have that exact type of appeal of the WGWG (White Guy With Guitar).

As I said, majority of voters of American Idol these days are housewives and their tween daughters at mas may appeal sa kanila ang WGWG (White Guy With Guitar). And I don't think a majority of them voted for Phillip Phillips because they hate Filipinos and/or Mexicans. They just like that cute guy who sings and plays guitar!

I doubt it. Because of two words: Taylor Hicks.

The producers (and Simon) DEFINITELY did not want him to win. They saw him as a novelty contestant whom they hope would be voted out around sixth or seventh place once people got tired of his schtick. They wanted Chris Daughtry to win that year. But, no, Chris Daughtry was voted off at fourth place and Taylor Hicks went on to win. The producers and Simon have on several occasions bashed Taylor Hicks' win in the press.

The producers do their best to manipulate the votes but in the end, the producers honor the vote of the people.

They (Americans) don't hate Jessica, they just love their own, tulad din natin mga Pinoy.
Majority of voters are americans, minority lang ang mga pinoy at chicanos. Ika nga noong na interview na pinay dun sa US, malabo daw talaga manalo si Jessica, kasi minority, kalaban 50 states sa botohan.

But Jessica IS their own: She's AMERICAN. By birth and by rights, she is American. She is more American than Filipino. America didn't vote for Philip simply because he is white. They voted for him because majority of the voters are teenage girls and moms who like the pop-rock guy who plays guitar. And Philip happens to also be young, cute and pretty good at it.

Simple. Done. End of story. No conspiracy or blatant racism here.

Not convinced? Well, Season 9, Crystal Bowersox DESTROYED Lee DeWyze at the finale, performance-wise. Her two performances were pretty fantastic especially when compared to Lee who was pretty pathetic with his two performances but Lee still WON despite the fact that it was PAINFULLY obvious that Crystal was a lot better. Was America being sexist? No. Lee won because of the reason I stated above.

Unless the producers ban the WGWG-types from auditioning OR they change the voting system, I doubt we'll see a change in the types of winners we'll have in the subsequent seasons.

iba ang quality ng boses ni jessica kay crystal and lauren.

crystal is also WGWG, and lauren very common  and somewhat lost her voice in the finale.

Crystal is a GIRL, not a boy. WGWG only apples to white GUYS, not girls. And she was A LOT better than Lee during the finale and Lee still won.

It's not about racism. That's really stupid to think that. Philip Philips is a cute boy who sings pop rock songs on the guitar and majority of the Idol viewers who are tweens and moms LOVE that kind of thing (look at the past 5 winners). No matter how IMPRESSIVE Jessica Sanchez's voice is, hindi siya type ng mga nagboboto. I mean, Pia Toscano got kicked out early and she's just as good as Jessica in the vocal department.

May pattern na so anyone can dream to win the AI (anyone whos WGWG who has charm and can sing of course).

A1 12 will become a predictable papogian contest if they do not do major changes somewhere. Yung mga bumoto kay PP will be the same people to vote for the next AI making it a boring show for everyone else.
