Audition with same video content and choose which you think is best for you based on what you see.

Samsung for me. All the rest are IPS (unless Samsung went IPS/PLS on this size).

Yes when it comes to contrast, black level and uniformity. IPS excels in viewing angle, which isn't a factor for me since VA still offers enough viewing angle for my use.

This is why Sony uses VA for higher end models and IPS for entry level to midrange models.

Lahat ba ng Samsung mu7000 uses VA Panel?

The far majority of Samsungs are VA from the entry level to the flagship lines. Some odd sizes at the entry level may get IPS or PLS panels, but they're more exceptions than the rule. There is no harm in double-checking (some sizes like the 43 inchers sometimes get IPS or PLS panels).

VA LCD contrast and black levels are now comparable to and are often superior to Plasma, though uniformity and viewing angles will always be Plasma strengths. Sharpness is of course another VA strength, since there is minimal light bleed to adjacent pixels.

Contrast comparison of entry level units:
Samsung F5500 contrast ratio (FHD Plasma - 2013): 2392:1
Samsung MU6300 contrast ratio (UHD VA LCD - 2017): 5768:1
Sony X720E contrast ratio (UHD IPS LCD - 2017): 907:1

A lot of the Plasma and OLED hate directed towards LCD revolves around black levels and contrast ratio. In this regard, VA significantly outperforms IPS. At the moment if OLED is unattainable, VA LCD is the next best option for realistic imaging.

Contrast comparison of high end units:
Pioneer Kuro contrast ratio (FHD Plasma - 2008): 8809:1
Sony X940E contrast ratio (UHD VA LCD LD - 2017): 11634:1
LG SJ9500 contrast ratio (UHD IPS LCD LD - 2017): 1560:1

masters, i have the 2016 Sony 43x800D.  i find this a very capable 4K HDR TV

-- VA panel
-- local dimming - no
-- backlight - edge
-- 10bit panel - yes
-- WCG (Triluminos feature) - yes

planning to sell the 43x800D and upgrade with Sony 49x900E

-- 6in larger screen
-- VA panel
-- local dimming - yes
-- backlight - full-array
-- 10bit panel - yes
-- WCG (Triluminos feature) - yes

is this a very good choice -- being x900E rated 2017 best in rtings.com, per its screen size?

i'm already hooked with the Android TV platform! =)

many thanks!

I'd assume that it'd be much better than your current TV. Do explore larger options too, as a larger screen would let you appreciate more of the UHD detail.

I don't think Sony is selling the 49" of the X9000 locally. You'd have to either get the 55" model or import the 49 .

appreciate the response, sir Stagea... am just limiting my budget =))

the 55x90E already cost a small difference with an LG OLED.  would wait though for a better cash deal, hopefully in Jan or Feb2018

many thanks!

Ouch!  you're right.  after I posted my message, went to the nearest Abenson's branch and confirmed no 49incher of this model will be sent to PH.

thanks!
