If you just want plan stereo playback and if you have no qualms getting Japanese surplus, there are great values in some Sansui and Luxman units at the pier shopping mall. These models were once flagship models and were made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market - with features claimed to be superior to many of the same models destined for international distribution. You just need an experienced techie to accompnay you when getting one. Check the amp surplus thread here. A lot of collectors are getting gaga over many Sansui integrateds. I probably would, except that I'm quite content with what I have.
