Ainge can still re-sign Hayward with that longer contract for 3yrs/$60M. Yun eh kung di na sila nadala sa pagka injury prone ni Hayward
;-)

It's probably almost a certainty he'll get a pay cut on his annual salary.  Specially coming from $34 million.  Same scenario with Al Horford  He opted out from his option of around $30M to sign with Philly for $100M/4 yrs (ave. $25M).  But in the long term, he could easily recoup the $34M he lost.  He could sign for 3yrs/$60M.

They just drafted Aaron Nesmith.  So Hayward really becomes expendable.  I hope sign & trade for Indiana's Myles Turner.   ;D

Tama.
Starting 5 ng Celtics: Theis C, Tatum F, Aaron Nesmith SF, Brown SG, Kemba PG.
Bench nila: Smart, Payton Pritchard, Yam Madar, Robert Williams, Tacko, Romeo Langford, Grant. Add pa sila ng veteran presence, center, power forward and PG.

Yes, he can re-sign a more team-friendly deal, pero dapat nadala na sila kay Hayward ........... he was an All-Star, him & Brad Stevens go way back, pero taon-taon na lang injured eh.

I've long listened to the known CELTICS podcasts, palaging sinusunog si Hayward.

We'll find out tomorrow 8am, if he stays or is traded.

As a Celtics fan, I already want Hayward, Brad Stevens and Ainge out. Si Brad and Ainge di naman sila naka pag produce ng Finals team since the time of Doc with band of brothers KG, The Truth, Ray and Rondo won and loss in the finals (2008 / 2009). So yung 2010 til 2020 walang nakuhang 1 title ang Celtics (similar to 1990-2000 decade). I don't see them reaching the finals pa din. Hihintayin pa ba nila malampasan sila ng Lakers sa # of titles?

Parang nabasa ko Enes Kanter opted in.  So he's back either in the line up or trade filler.  If Hayward doesn't resign, the Cs can now go after Aron Baynes with the full MLE.   ;D

Oo nga sobrang nakakalungkot.

On the bright side, he is even lucky to already have 3 NBA rings as compared to other stars na na injured na lang at natapos na ang career. But sana makabalik pa sya. Since shooter sya I think magiging ok pa pag balik nya.

Outside of diehard LAKERS fans, I don't think anyone really believes that the LAKERS are tied with the CELTICS in the championships tally.

To most NBA followers, the LA LAKERS are only at 12 championships.

pwede naman sya as spot shooter lang. mababawasan ang galing nya sa footwork.. yan pa man din kinakabiliban ko sa kanya.

Klay is a very effective catch and shoot guy but before he catches it and shoots, he runs through multiple screens and picks to get to his spot with his defender trailing already on the play.  Remember when he scored 60 points but dribbled only 11 times the entire game?  He is that good when moving without the ball.  The entire team is also exerting effort to get him free from his defender.

Hopefully he can still play at that level once his rehab is done. History though is against that probability.

In hindsight, Klay and Curry are a joy to watch when they get it going.  The defense is at their mercy since you cant double on any of them,  Once you single cover Steph Curry he can then embarrass and make a fool out of any defender with his handles.

Five of those kasi were won by Minneapolis.  I am not aware lang if the record books also credit the Atlanta Hawks for the St. Louis Hawks championship and if the Oklahoma City Thunder gets credit for the Seattle Sonics championship.

There are 2 big arguments (one is obvious, the other not so obvious) why the LAKERS should have 12 not 17 championships.

The obvious one, the first 5 of the LAKERS championships were back when the team was still based in Minneapolis.
The OKC THUNDER organization and fanbase doesn't recognize the '79 championship won by the SONICS.
Same with the KINGS, HAWKS, SIXERS fanbase - they don't recognize the championships won from their original locations.

The not-so-obvious argument, if the LAKERS organization and fanbase recognize the 5 championships by the old MINNEAPOLIS LAKERS,
then why did they not retire the jersey/number of George Mikan, the superstar of those championship teams?

George Mikan is recognized as the first dominant NBA superstar and a member of the 50 Greatest Players of All-Time list.

Eleven (11) ex-LAKERS have the honor of having their jerseys retired, this does not include George Mikan.

But hey, if the Buss family claims the first 5 championships and their fans are happy with it, then it's all good.

Before they were chasing the Celtics for the record, Laker fans probably wanted nothing to do with the franchise from its Minneapolis days (hence the Mikan issue). Now that they're record chasing, well...

This 2001 article from the LA Times explains why George Mikan’s #99 jersey has not been raised in the rafters at Staples. Looks like it’s more an issue with protocol than preference. The article also clarified then that the Buss family was not against the idea of the LA Lakers honoring Mikan.

“Hanging Mikan’s No. 99 would be a little trickier.

“As a matter of principle,” Steiner (publicist for the late Jerry Buss) said, “if we were to retire Mikan’s number, we would want to retire the other stars of those Minneapolis teams who are in the Hall of Fame. We wouldn’t retire Mikan’s and not the others as a matter of protocol.

“There’s a problem retiring (Slater) Martin’s number since he had 22, and we’ve already retired that number as Elgin Baylor’s.”

To address this, the Lakers have raised banners at Staples Center to recognize the five titles that the franchise won prior to moving to LA and to honor the Minneapolis Lakers who are in the Hall of Fame, led by Mikan who was present at the ceremony.

The NBA itself acknowledges that the Lakers have tied the Celtics for the most NBA championships at 17. So IMO the thinking that this is not the case and that the Lakers are credited with just 12 titles is more the exception than the rule.
We deserve better.

Exactly. Hence the words fanbase, which I used on my posts ........... records are records, it's written down somewhere.

Opinions of fans, fanbases are a different thing altogether.

Records show that Robert Horry won 7 championships .......... yet no basketball fan will ever say that he's greater than say, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Pat Ewing, Reggie Miller, Pistol Pete, John Stockton, etc

I don't think anyone in Sacramento acknowledges that they won a championship already .......... back from 1951, when the team was still based in the state of New York.

But like I said, what fans want to believe is what they want to believe. it's all good.

Dwight Howard has announced that he is returning to the LA Lakers. Si KCP na lang...

EDIT: Then Howard deletes his tweet announcement a few minutes later.  ???

Other player movements:

* The Pistons continue to stockpile big men by signing Mason Plumlee from the Nuggets. They acquired Dewayne Dedmon and Tony Bradley earlier.

* The Blazers have reacquired Enes Kanter from Boston and have moved Mario Hezonja to Memphis.

sobrang daming bigs ng Pistons... Plumlee, tapos they signed Jahlil Okafor din.  add to Bradley and Dedmon, that's 4 big men FA signings.  i think Henson's there as well, unless FA siya and they don't have intentions of resigning him

IMO, they should re-sign Christian Wood
