Yup. Nadulas daw sa bahay or at least yun ang pinalabas ni John Wall.  We do not know in detail the exclusions of an NBA player's contract.  Alam ko riding a motorcycle is one (Jay Williams of the Chicago Bulls incident).

Kostas Antetokounmpo re-signed by the Lakers to a two way contract.

This might turn out to be the most important signing by the Lakers this season LOL

Everybody knows why teams will give a roster spot to an Antetokounmpo (other than Giannis).   :)

Imagine if they win again. Kostas will be a two time champ while his brother is still figuring out how to reach the NBA Finals.

Ganun kahirap talaga manalo ng ring.  That's why sila MJ, Bird, Magic etc. are considered greats.  They won their rings basically playing for only one team.  Dirk only has one ring playing only for Dallas.  But he's considered the greatest European player ever.

Yes. Its very elusive. Sometimes one's basketball career came and went without even getting to the finals. We cant fault those who seek out trades/team movement in order to win it.  Players these days have full control of their careers.  Why stay in a franchise if the franchise itself isn't determined to win it by getting the right players and coaching team.  Championships are not organically won.  Bird, Magic and Jordan are lucky because the franchises that they played for are determined to win year over year.   Some franchises are just money making businesses for the owners.

Majority of basketball contracts are fully guaranteed against injury as long as the injury was sports related and did not occur during activities specifically barred in the contract terms (riding a motorcycle for example), so if they get hurt and they’re still under contract at the time, they’ll still be paid. There are some contracts that aren’t fully guaranteed at signing pero bihira yun and mostly given to players who are still being evaluated during the course of the year, An example is Dwight Howard's contract last year with the Lakers.

This is the reason why many young players want to be eligible for the NBA draft even if they skip college. Once they get a rookie contract they are already assured of the money. Madami na din NCAA players who got injured prior to their draft eligibility. Some recovered to still play for the NBA but some didn't due to career ending injuries.  Red flag kasi sa GM pag may injury ka and even if  maka recover and you declare eligibility sa draft most likely mababa ang draft potential mo. Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets is the example.
I was reminded of Jayson Williams ba yun sa Chicago touted to be a superstar but got seriously injured in a motorcycle accident and just like that nawala na sya sa sirkulasyon.

Ano ibig sabihin ng 2 way contract?

Speaking of Kostas, player pala sya ng Lakers, malayo ba sya sa galing ni Giannis?

2-way contracts are basically, simply put, for 2 extra-players for each team ............. these extra players, usually not good enough, but have the potential for a roster spot, that a team wishes to keep, just in case e.g. injuries, etc.

Like the HEAT's Chris Silva last season, spent time mostly sa NBA G-League. ........... minsan naglalaro nang spot minutes.

They will go over the luxury tax just like the Warriors when KD was there. The Lakers can afford it.

How will the Lakers acquire Giannis.  They can't sign him outright.  So it has to be sign and trade.  But for the supermax, don't the Lakers have to include either LeBron or AD if it's via a trade to match up salaries?

If I remember correctly Warriors had cap room to sign Durant.  At least for the first year.  That was the year Curry was terribly underpaid.

Free agent na sya after this incoming season. No need for sign and trade. Just wait it out. That's the reason why many GM's are closely watching if Giannis will sign an extension.

If mabait naman si Giannis and he wouldn't want the Bucks to get nothing then he might agree for a sign and trade.

After all the free agent moves of the Bucks....still Giannis hasn't committed for an extension.

Lakers payroll for the 21-22 season is pegged above $73M.  If the cap remains at $109M, that leaves the Lakers with an elbow room of $36M.  And that doesn't even include AD's salary.  Mahirap outright signing.  So it has to be a sign and trade.  Or involve a third or fourth team.  Least likely scenario is outright signing I think.

Naisip ko lang, considering how ball dominant Harden is and how unselfish Curry and Thompson are di ba magandang fit si Harden sa GSW para may makatapat naman ang LAL?

mahahanapan ng paraan yan.. pwede naman mag give way si lebron in preparation sa pag retire nya para AD and Giannis ang maiiwan. marami paraan. tingnan nalang natin ano magiging movement next season..

Lebron's salary for 21-22 is around $41M.  That's S41M of the total Lakers cap of $73M.  Not saying Giannis is impossible to acquire.  I'm saying it would be terribly hard to sign Giannis outright given his cap hold even if Lebron is to give way.

The 41M salary of Lebron is a player option meaning he can opt out and renegotiate for a higher or lower salary.  If Giannis doesn't sign the extension and AD signs a 1+1 then we know that they will go for it.   Let's just say Lebron opts out for 2021-22 season and signs for 35M for 2 +1....AD opts out as well after year 1 of the 1+1 and renegotiates for 35M for a 2+1 as well...That's instant room already.  All they need now is some salary dump trades like Harrel (9M...he wont be needed anymore with Giannis onboard), renounce rights and let the ff walk in FA:  Kuzma (3M), Matthews (3.6M), Shroeder (15M).....Maluwag nilang makukuha si Giannis at around 38 to 40M. They just need to round up the roster with veteran minimums.

Even if they go over the cap.....what is money compared to a possible dynasty?

this!..

that's why hindi parin nakakapirma si AD for lakers.. kasi according to rumors nag aantay pa ng desisyon ni Giannis. kung mag sign ng extension si Giannis malamang long term narin tong si AD. pero kung hindi alam na this. AD will sign 1+1..

Waiting game ang LA and Davis. Pretty sure that AD is cooperating with management that's why hindi minamadali yung contract signing.

Miami BTW just booted themselves out of the Giannis sweepstakes by signing Adebayo to a long term deal.  Now they have to move Bam to make room.  Ilan na lang ang teams na kalaban ng LA for Giannis na may cap space.  Siguro naman hindi pupunta ng NY si Giannis.

According to the link below which I saw, there's no opt out clause on the fourth year of Lebron's contract.  It's fully guaranteed.

Report: No opt-out clause in LeBron's contract with Lakers
Quote
As Stephen A. Smith of ESPN reported on Sunday night, there is no opt-out clause in LeBron's contract with the Lakers. It was previously reported that it was a four-year deal with a player option for the fourth year, but Smith is saying James is committing to the full four years in Los Angeles:

But if LeBron does opt out.  Lakers cap would basically be dedicated to just three players.....all having to take pay cuts including Giannis.  Then trade away all players without taking any player or contract in return.  And Giannis would be leaving around $76M (Bucks offer $228M/5 yrs) compared to $152M/4 yrs.

While mathematically possible,. My gut feel is that it's the least feasible.
