I have always looked up to your commentaries sa thread na ito. At this juncture iniisip ko na beyond the choice of players dapat na atang mag palit na din ng coach ang LAL?
Thanks a lot Bro Tirso
The problem with changing the coach is the long process of learning his style. All of the players will need to adapt to new defensive and offensive preferences of the coach. Add to that is the ever looming issue of LBJ approving who will coach the team so its not gonna be easy. Its Vogel's 3rd year as the head coach of LAL. He won a ring on his first year and performed sub par for two straight years. The irony of the last two years is that Vogel is a defensive minded coach and LAL has regressed in both seasons but is it the fault of the coach? Or is he only as good as the pieces you give him?
They let go of Pope and Caruso who form the stonewall back court defense of the championship team. AD and Dwight are the anchors of the frontcourt defense during that year. Now they replaced defense for more offense. You have now Malik, Westbrook etc and we all saw the results. Add to the mix are some of the stubborn vets who only play token defense. Watch closely sa games nila and you will see what I mean. They move half speed during defense but you will see na ganado sila sa offense.
If you ask me they should push the reboot button now rather than later. Let go or trade everybody not named LBJ and AD. Start fresh with a new coach that focuses on development and build the team around youth this time around. AD will be under contract for 4 more years so that should be their window to develop young players. LBJ might stick around if LAL drafts Bronny or he just might leave for that farewell tour. At this juncture the writing is on the wall for LBJ.....he might not compete anymore for a ring in his final 2 years. He will only play for 2 things left unchecked in his bucket list...the Kareem scoring record and to play with Bronny for 1 year.
