hi, my cousin just bought a new pc, with all updated specs. from p4, video card, harddrive, cdrw drive, memory to asus mother board.

the problem is i notice when he's using it for playing games like nba live 2004. there's a bit slow movement in graphics. but its doing fine. its just you can still see the difference when playing to his pc and ps2. specially when he installed the hitman: contracts "ang bagal talaga"

. should he update something like video drivers?

if i may ask what would you recommend specs for pc that is not only best for HT setup but also best for gaming purposes? like in computer cafe's and network gaming.

What is your videocard? is it a 64-bit?

just buy a new videocard. u wont go wrong with ATI Radeon 9800Pro or X800 Pro. Both are available at your local PC store.

the videocard probably cant keep up with graphic tasks.

forgot the brand but its a 64 bit video card. how much bit this ATI radeon 9800pro and x800 pro have?

The ATI Radeon X800 Pro is only 27K. ATI Radeon 9800pro [I think the current price is ~18K (full package)] is what i'm using coz im waiting for the ATI Radeon X800 XT prices to go down [currently at 45K].

yes it is, indeed. but you will forget that once u use it and able to play at MAXIMUM settings. max aa, AF. all video optimizations you can think of. kaya super smooth nung game experience.

p4 on a 128? bottleneck yan bro.

try increasing the mem to 256 at least, but better if 512 or more.

you should determine first if the board or chipset is dual channel capable.

if it is,

then put memories in pairs of four. say, 1Gb should be = 256MB DDR400 x 4

512MB = 128 x4

according to Intel white paper, that would produce the best result rather than duos.

the ati cards mentioned are top of the line. inno3d has a fx5200 card w/ is 128 bit and won't cost more than 4k. this card may be entry level but it is a pretty solid card.

also, check if your mobo can support ddr400. 256mb at least. if the mobo requires overclocking to make use of the ddr400, do so.

get the lastest drivers for your card.

and disable all memory resident programs like anti virus programs. especially anti virus programs.

for htpc, get the thx-certified audigy sound card. for speakers, get the klipsch promedia ultra, logitech z5300 or the new z680 upgrade, the z5500.

another thing, while high end video cards require the pci slot adjacent to the agp slot to be left unused, it is a good idea to apply the same for lower end video cards.

Hi mayor,

Pwede mo din icheck yun speed ng harddisk, if its a 5400. Mabagal kse talaga yun 5400. If it is a 7200, much better. Then, pag nagupgrade na kayo as mention above, might as well, try to defrag your harddrive.

Sir, the best way is to have a friend there who you trust. Mahirap nang magbaka-sakali. Lalo na sa part mo na hindi masyadong aware sa mga parts e.g. what to look for, and how it is evaluated. In fairness naman dun sa iba, meron din namang good sellers..but you'll never know...

Partition Magic is a no-frills windows-based partitioning utility. It also has a feature that allows you to partition disks or resize partitions even with data on it.

In principle, partition magic claims that it will not damage your files -- but since we're talking about data it's still a good idea to back it up so if ever something untoward happens while you're partitioning your drive you can always restore your backup.

the best way is still the old fashioned way... that is partitioning your harddisk using fdisk...

bro pogi,

the old fashioned way of partitioning, requires that i have to back up my file first isn't it ? got a lot of PIX there -- so how many floppy disk kaya naman kelangan ko? this is my issue with the old way of doing it, kaya in lieu of this, thinking of using the partition magic software instead.

bro, kung may CD or DVD writer ka e di dun mo na lang i backup kesa naman sa floppy. o kaya naman tanggalin mo yung HD mo tapos ipakabit mo sa kaibigan mo na may malaking HD space then tsaka mo dun ibackup or kung kung meron kang mahihiram na spare HD dun mo na alng i-backup.
