Just brought Monitor Audio Silver RS last January 2006
Front    RS6 x 2,
Back     RS1 x 2,
Centre RS LCR
Subs    RSW-12
Receiver Yamaha RXV-657

Ano ang actual power rating nitong Yamaha Receiver? Para kasing bitin sa (sound?) ?

Run-In Time Estimate 5 Hrs at -12dB ; 20 Hrs at -40dB ; 20 Hrs at -30 dB ; 10 hrs at -17dB.

IMHO i would get an external 5 channel amp to drive the speakers properly, especially if your room is relatively big.

Actually, the setup is in my bedroom.
15.5 ft x 17 ft

Do you know a decent 5 channel Amp?
Thanks

Been looking at Jungson AV-1000C, pero wala yata sa Pinas.

OK ang mids when i listened to it...i believe it's MA's strength...bass is acceptable...makukuha sa positioning...yun lang naman ang aking brief encounter with the RS1, thanks!

Thanks to all guys.  Fixed the problem with my setup.  the Yamaha RXV-657 lacks power to drive MA speakers. Got the dial turn just -10dB, and the sound starts to becomes "garbled".  Also, IMO not a good match for MA RS. Maybe, as John said - I need to get an external amp.

Had a chance to borrow Sony TA-VA80ES. The difference can be noticed immediately. No longer are the "bad sound" present.  Also, the power - oh YES the power. Just turning it for a quarter turn, and the sound is already  starting to become too loud for music. That's POWER.

You'll see finesse of sound, finer balance, ... etc.

Still something else is lacking. This Sony's a good receiver, but still lacks the "WOW factor".

Maybe, I'll still have to search for much better receiver.

Again, thanks

Why don't you try Harmand Kardon receivers... I'm sure it will make your speakers sing well... even using the HK135 only. But if you looking for power try HK335 and above models....  ;D BTW, I'm using HK130 to drive all of my Bronze MA speakers... B4 --> front, B-center and B2 for surround and I'm very satisfied how this HK130 delivers power to  my speakers... ;D

Enjoy!! ;D

Sir Calvin Tan:

When confronted with a choice between a practical solution and an expensive solution, I invariably choose the practical one.

And IMO, getting an external amp is the expensive solution, which might even lead to a never-ending gear accumulation that will transform your home into a cluttered eyesore in no time.

The practical, anti-clutter solution is to sell the Yammy and replace it with a receiver that will be a better match to the Monitors.

Actually, I'm still searching for THE processor/receiver which I believe will be best for me.  It's a sad fact that most stores here tend to guage buyers by their outward appearance.

I still waiting for a receiver, hoping this would be the last audition.  And hopefully, I might be able to compare all the items that I had collected, and will probably dispose the rest.

To all members of PinoyDVD,
Thanks

Bro in my experience, fortunately (for them) ineentertain nila ko. I don't know why.

How much difference ng Silver sa Bronze?

Kanya-kanyang taste lang yan.  Mas maganda kung ma-audition mo muna with the RECEIVER or PRO/AMP that you are going to use.

Of course, all appliances benefit from break-in, but the improvement would not be as dramatic as some people would have us believe.

Except for subwoofers.  A break-in period improves a sub's performance significantly.
