Finally got myself my First RS1 in Rosenut Color. Beautiful.

Now, I would like to ask for some opinions..can I use it with an Onkyo 805 or Yamaha 863 on 2 speaker mode? Using MA's for HT seems to be overboard for me. Want to use my Wharfedales na lang for my HT.

Or should I get a less powered but dedicated stereo amplifier like NAD or Naim for it?

Totally confused now. 

magkano kuha mo sa rs1? Jus aking cos maybe in a few months time the MA rs series will be replaced by the rx series which ive read from What Hifi is comparable in performance to the gold series. In which case, baka magbagsak presyo ang audioworld!

As for amplifier recommendations, if money is no object then go for Naim. Or if you can find a Musical Fidelity amp there, these amps synergize well with MA speakers.

Lets say 50K for Amp+CDP..pero need pa ata ng Pre-amp right? 50sqm..Mostly Jazz, Bossa Nova and the like.

both naim and nad would make your MA sound excellent...adding just one more, u may also audition arcam if its also available in your locality.

these speakers normally are bright and forward sounding. any partnering gear, ic, cable should be aimed at trimming down these inherent MA characteristics, unless if its exactly what you are looking for.

for the ICs and cables, u may try ecosse.

this RX series looks so much like the old GR line. if this sounds similar as well, its one helluva line to watch out for...sana lang kasing presyo pa din ng current RS line.

limited to these 2 options only? id go with the HK...for a very slight addition of budget, nad/exposure/arcam would sound better

Im using Monitor Audio RS6 fronts, RSLCR center, BR1 back surrounds, BRFX for surrounds plus Denon 2310.  So far im very satisfied with the results. Very detailed and buo ang sound.

Have heard the rx1 & rx6 here in Adelphi, Singapore side-by-side with the original silver 8 and rs6.  I think the original silver series and rs series are better.  The sound of rx series was somewhat narrow and shy (tipong pigil ang tunog).  The equipments used to drived the rx6 speakers during the shootout was a Marantz 8003 SACD and a KT88-based Cayin Amp (AT88 I think).  Even the shop owner wasn't happy on the sound of the new rx series.

I don't think so...Kase pareho lang naman demo unit iyong ginamit during the shootout and like I said, even the shop owner he wasn't happy with the new rx series.

The good thing about the new rx series was the driver used, with dimples similar to their gold models.

OT:  But I found the new release of Castle Speakers are better looking (excellent cabinetry - especially their rare Antique Oak Finish) and more warmer than the MA RX series.  IMHO

During the shootout that was held @ Adelphi here in SG.  Both models used the same Marantz 8003 sacd player & a Cayin KT88-based Amp.

Listening impression: RS6 has a wider soundstage and detailed while the RX6 & RX8 ay medyo narrow and laidback.  Parang iyong sound sa RX models ay nanggagaling sa likod ng cabinet at kapag nag-off axis ka na sa listening position ay medyo kulang na iyong tunog.  The RS6 compared to RX8, ay mas mukhang malaki pa ang tunog ng RS6.  I found the original UK S6 and RS6 ay almost the same or very close pagdating sa performance.

As far as my experience in MA and considering it's 90-91dB sensitivity.  Connect it with a decent amp either SS or Tube and these beauties will definitely sing.

The last time I checked was S$1000 for a pair of RS6 and S$1,400 for RS8 (S$1=Php33+).  I would suggest you buy locally from a MA authorize shop and you will not to worry for some shipping / tax charges and  likewise the damage that might happen during the shipment. Plus the warranty and the immediate support of the product.
