I just got a second hand Monitor Audio MR4 and Center package courtesy of joaquinibe, a fellow PDVD member. It replaced my Mission M702E and Center.  I'm very very happy with my new set of old speakers hehe. A lot of improvement in terms of sound quality and soundstage. Powered by Harman Kardon AVR, they sing a balance tune. Highs are very good, vocal/mids are excellent and the lows are. . . yes so low that you do not need to engage an active subwoofer when listening to music. A big big big improvement from the Mission set they replaced. I think they will continue to sing good music and provide theater like sound in our living room for a long time.

Any Gold 50 user in the group? What amp are you driving them with? Any feedback would be much appreciated as i am looking to buy a pair to replace my paradigm studios.

ganda bro. I used to power my Golds with a 250Wpc solid-state monoblock, bi-wired and bi-amped kasi each amp block has 2 pairs of active outputs.

then I have a tube preamp with outboard power supply, fed by a DAC with tube buffer both having an outboard power supply. super linis ang tunog ng MA. the only problem is how to tone down the highs and sometimes, the mids.

making use of an appropriate wire and speaker cables will do the trick. in my case, I used Ecosse speaker cables and interconnects....effective naman.

I maintained this system for almost 10yrs ng walang galawan….that goes to show how satisfied ive been....MAs are flexible/versatile. they can make any music genre sound good. they are very open and transparent sounding, at least compared to those na nadinig ko na.

id vouch for MA golds and all the other models above it. maganda talaga tumunog bastat busog lang sa power.
