Recently, I was given the opportunity to own a NOS pair of Monitor Audio GR-10 for $1K (Rose Mahogany finish), the one that was originally handcrafted in the UK.  The dealer offered me the GR-20 but since I already had the SF Grand Piano, I choosed to have the mini GR-10 standmounts preferably because the prestige of being one of the last pairs that was Made in England in contrast to the GS-10 that was assembled somewhere in Southeast Asia.  My GR-10 will serve as a backup system which to be paired with a Roksan Kandy K2 Amplifier.

There were 2 things why I owned again the MA's, perhaps the midrange magic and the detailed highs, an Indian idea well developed and built by the British....Well of course with the exception to my SF. :)

congrats bro..ganda yan SF. enjoy :)

The NOS GR-20 (Rose Mahogany finish)was offered to me at US$1,400 (including the door-to-door delivery to Manila) from the original price of US 1,800 (plus shipping cost).  You will save about US$800 from the total cost.

MA RS6 is best with stereo int. amplifiers.  You may try to consider if you're into audio only some int. amps from Marantz, NAD, Cambridge, Denon or Exposure.

If you have more cash to burn, MA RS6 is best with Roksan Kandy Amp.

Signal2Noise thank you for replying. i will use it for HT and audio. Im thinking to get RS6, RSLCR, RSW-12 and for the rear BRFX. kasi po may harman na ako a/v receiver.

do you think it would much?

or may suggestion po kayosa akin na ibang set of speakers for h/k?

for me personally, it would be too much for an HT rig.
for audio, it had to be taken very very very carefully and slowly :) :)

The MA RS6 is too much for your HT fronts except if you have a large AV room.

I would suggest get the RS1 HT combo, otherwise if you have some legal tenders to burn, then go for RS6.

But an AV receiver may not utilize fully the potential of the RS6 as compared it using a dedicated int. amp.
(IMHO, a 50W stereo int. amp can make the RS6 sing better than using it with a 120W AV receiver setup on 2 ch. mode)

I'm not familiar with the performance of a HK Receiver, but to be safe.  Go for JBL or Infinity HT package since they all belong to one big Harman Family

I'm sure, the engineers working at Harman during their RND for HT speakers, are or might using Harman amplifications for their testings.

Regards,

S2N

You're correct sir - AudioWorld located in Banawe, QC is the distributor of MA.  ;)
In Makati, one of their dealers is The Home Theater (SGT) located in Tordesillas St.

This is still accurate.  Of course, dealers including audio world will still give discounts.

i passed by audioworld earlier and heard the br2 and rs6 and wow :o i was blown away by how sweet it sounded!

ofcourse i can only admire the rs6 cause i can't afford it but i listened well to the br2 and id say it sounded better than some of the entry level floorstanders i was able to audition the other day.

too bad im really gunning for an FS.

the br2 is worth the price.

Finally got myself my First RS1 in Rosenut Color. Beautiful.

Now, I would like to ask for some opinions..can I use it with an Onkyo 805 or Yamaha 863 on 2 speaker mode? Using MA's for HT seems to be overboard for me. Want to use my Wharfedales na lang for my HT.

Or should I get a less powered but dedicated stereo amplifier like NAD or Naim for it?

Totally confused now.  ;D

For me, you cannot compare an AVR with a dedicated stereo amplifier. We are not talking about wattage here, but as long as the stereo amplifier is enough to drive your speaker, it will be way better.

You ware saying Naim, then you will be going really somewhere with your monitor audio.

I mentioned Naim and NAD..kasi yan lang ang mga SS amps na avail dito. They are a little bit pricey though...Can you suggest me a SS amp and CDP combo which would go well with the RS1? TIA.  ;)

Lets say 50K for Amp+CDP..pero need pa ata ng Pre-amp right? 50sqm..Mostly Jazz, Bossa Nova and the like.
