I have the external version (USB/Firewire) version of Plextor PX-716 I bought about 6-7 months ago, after about a 100 copies, I've been experiencing SPINDLE SERVO FAILURE error. I thought that my unit is busted already but then it worked again though I am still observing it. It would be very difficlut to return it since I bought it in the States. I am hoping that it is a media problem. I buy those 8 peso printable DVDrs at CDRKing, it worked flawlessly after two packs of 25, I'm experiencing the problem on the 3rd pack. I have not experienced any problems on my Ridata ordered from Amazon. Hopefully, it is just that.
One friend advised me to go slow and not overheat the writer, it seems that that may also be a cause of this problem. If I find the time to do some copying, I normally do a lot in one sitting.
I downloaded the latest firmware last night (1.07) although haven't had time to install it.
Can you guys also give me some pointers on what I'm doing wrong given this situation:
- I'm using an IBM R51 notebook, the DVD/CDRW is now at Region 1, I did a back up of Phantom of the Opera R1 using DVDshrink then DVDdecrypter. The resulting copy worked fine but retained its R1 status and won't play on a strictly R3 player. My Plextor was bought from the States and presumably is R1. I tried the DVDdecrypter route - dvdshrink-dvddecrypter route, but DVDdecrypter sends a message that it can't crack via his brute force technology the region coding.
Q. How do I make my IBM notebook multiregion?
Q. How do I make my Plextor multiregion?
Q. How do I make my copies multiregion? I thought that DVDShrink removes all that crap already?
Thanks.
