Sir Matzter,
Ang swerte mo naman sa in-laws.  ;D

Thanks Supes and paolo! Actually swerte ako sa GUY up there.

Last sunday, after several months of trying to save up for a projector (overbudget kasi house renovation so I ran out of funds for the PJ), I got frustrated and just simply prayed for it during mass (I dont usually pray for material things, lalo na pag hobby stuff  ;D).

Lo and behold, only 2 hours later my balikbayan brod in law just gave us the funds to buy one! My in-law mustve pitied our bulky rear projection TV occupying a huge portion of our 12 sq m. living room/HT room w/c he saw that same (early) morning. Puro LCD & plasma na raw sila sa U.S.

Wala lang, just wanted to share about my blessing... ;)

and of course say Thanks....to HIM :D

re: your choice of panny ae900, why dont you up the ante and go for the comparable sony or hitachi lcd pj's? their srp's are usually 500US$ more, but their performance are on a higher level

Really?! You sure? I thought that Panny is one of the best around (for the budget)? I could get from Hitachi directly, distributor is a good friend of mine, but I didnt know that the Hitachi's are better than the Panny's.  ::)

the panny & sanyo are budget wonders, the hitachi slightly better than the panny... but the sony is on a totally different level... yung specs n performance ng current model ng sony lcd pj, mahahabol pa lang ng panny/sanyo sa new model (i.e. ae900, z4)... of course yung new model ng sony is again head and shoulders above the new panny/sanyo/hitachi.

gusto ko nga sana yung sony, pero i could only afford the panny, which is good enough for me.

ha ha ha pareng voelker wala pa 3mos panny mo eh parang sisi ka na ;D Hay ito talagang hobby natin walang katapusan, even if you buy the best gears your money can buy right now im sure after a while there's something better coming out and im very sure we hobbyist will try to reason out with our partners just to upgrade, ;D ;D ;Dsee you on sunday ha.

gusto ko nga sana yung sony, pero i could only afford the panny, which is good enough for me.

pareng ricky: oops, sorry if i gave that impression. on the contrary, im very much happy with the panny. even with the new model coming out, im not too bothered. evolutionary lang naman yung upgrade, hindi quantum leap.

ive also no more desire to keep up with the latest tech just to have the latest and the best, ok na ko every few generations, saka lang upgrade pag talagang useless na yung current rig. we could all use some sanity in this hobby, pansin ko kasi things can get out of hand easily. ayoko na analyze too much, once i pick out the gear, i just want to sit back and enjoy hehe

tigil na nga ko kakabasa dun sa avsforum. the more i know, the more i end up scrutinizing my setup. ignorance is bliss ika nga hehehe

see you sunday bro

Yup, ignorance can be bliss.  But on the other side, knowledge can be liberating (like for those tech gurus at audioholics:  why bother with an exotic cable when you know it's all nonsense?)   It's when you're somewhere in between and have doubts that the urge to experiment and tweak will cost you to add or subtract from your system.  ;D

I've somehow managed not to add anything new.  Luckily nothing failed that would require me to do so.  My planned SACD player fizzled out, what with so few SACD titles out there anyway.  My planned dedicated CD player likewise, nothing new to excite me out there.   So far my PC-based music server with its flexiility to mix and match on the fly the stored 160GB CD track favourites in uncompressed wav is doing just great.   My amps and speakers, well, i'm sure there are better ones.  But nothing to give me the itch.  I think I'm SARS-free.   ;D  For now.

Good for you av_phile1 ;)

Tama ka voelker once you have the essentials just sit back, relax and enjoy it to the max.I forgot to mention to you na i auditioned the neuneo player already, result? lets put it this way,its evolutionary and not a quantum leap compared with our present gear but if a first time buyer this dvdp is more than ok considering its price and specs. ;) and besides ayaw ni misis kasi 2 na daw player ko ha ha ha.

OT: Sir, what sound car do you use for your music server? Do you use a media center for it or connect it to your pre-amp or amp?

Approved by Mrs. Matz yesterday (for our bedroom), for purchase by Jan. :

Hitachi 32" LCD TV, remote control swivel, 1 billion colors  ;D ;D ;D

Also wanted a Denon 1920 and a 15m HDMI cable. But she gave me that look. This time nakunsensya na ako talaga ;D. Pinagbigyan na ako sa TV so wag na abuso  ;D.

DOWN boy! down!!!

PS. AE900 coming this week!!! squirm! squirm!
