those pirated discs which have some imperfections (ex. not properly centered disc hole or yung may sobrang plastic on the edges of the disc making them larger than usual). sumasabit kasi sa disc tray ko yun since masikip yung tray or eksakto lang sa normal discs. what i do to those pdvds if i cant get another copy is just file the edges para maalis yung sobrang plastic

If I may butt in. minsan naman yung pDiscs ay hindi gaanong flat kaya minsan nagkakaproblema sa disc tray, parang sumasabit.

I see.  I must confess though that with all the P-DVD's I've had over the last 3 years, I've yet to encounter the problems you guys have experienced regarding excess plastic, off-center or wobbled conditions among pirated discs.  Either I'm lucky or maybe those newer generic players use smaller and more exacting disc trays. Or those newer p-discs have poorer makes,  but if so, I should experience this with my branded players as well.  Maybe the law of averages will soon catch up on me.  ;D

Majority of new generic players nowadays feature a slimmerdisc trays compared to older players but the reason really why pDiscs exhibit playback problems is that pDVD manufacturers now use inferior media.

A recently released player of Rainbow that's capable of playing DivX for P27xx.  Saw it in Makro Makati, anyone of you guys already purchased this one?

I had my share of problems with this brand... it was my sister's actually... she won in a raffle...

1. Video problems... aspect ratio is in pan-scan... widescreen features does not display correctly...
2. hooking up to a 5.1 decoder using coax connector does not work either.
3. Weak plastic tray... parang mababali pag eject ng DVD.

I also recently bought a Rainbow player - it's not the slim type (I forgot the model). But it is about the size of a horizontal legal bond paper (but slightly biggger), tapos pag naka-on siya, may blue-light that you'll see coming from the tray. I decided to buy this player because it plays any DVD I insert in it. I bought a DVD-R, R2, R1, R3, PAL DVD with me, and even DVDs that skipped when I play on my Xenon and Pioneer. So far so good... I actually have one problem with it... when I inserted my Azumi PDVD - it can't display the english subtitles (but my pioneer and xenon can) - pero sa ibang DVDs that need english subs, walang problem. What I'm doing now, to preserve my Rainbow is use it as a last option if I can't play a DVD - alternate ko na lang siya ginagamit with my Pioneer.

Grandpoobah,

If your Azumi pdvd is the HKDVD one, it would display the English sub when your player is set to 16:9 (WS). ;D

Yup, it is the HKDVD and it is set in 16:9, but whenever I switch to english subs, it displays the chinese subs. Weird.

I bought a Rainbox DVD/DIVX player from Shopwise Cubao last Friday. Man, it works great with my DVD's and DIVX in DVDs... Just have to reorganize my file naming convention in the future as it only displays 8.3 filenames... still the best ever!!! Also works with my MPEGS... especially those MPEGS of Voltes-V VCDs I have, they play in chronological order... Popcorn marathon!!!!

Got a 604 and served me for over a year.  Brought it to repair shops twice to fix the jammed tray.  Reason am posting now, coz I need a new one and looking for options.

This player served me well -- video and audio (decoder function).  And I'd buy same unit if I find one.
