first of all, thanks to epoy, nico and
"chick-boy" chadd for accomodating me yesterday (sa wakas, nakapag-audition na rin!!!)
i had a chance to audition side by side the DALI Ikon 6 and the DALI Concept 6 as i was curious on how "different" they are, also wanted to know the strengths of both...
the following equipment/software used were:
SPEAKERS: Dali Ikon 6 anf Concept 6
SOURCE: Usher CDP
AMPLIFIER: Mighty Mike's Turbo-Charged Push-Pull 6550 Amplifier
CABLES/IC: Silver IC, Dali Speaker Cables
SOFTWARE: Best Audiophile Voices II, Kenny Rankin's Haven't We MetWith the
Ikon 6 hooked-up, we immediately played
"Haven't We Met" by Kenny Rankin since this is one of my favorite tracks and am very familiar with how it sounds in my current system...i liked what i heard, refined, musical, detailed, bass will still improve (with more hours of break-in) but already tight considering it's out of the box...especially noticed the extension of the highs, not ear-piercing, aaaaahhh the sound of ribbon tweeters...major strength of the Ikon 6 (IMHO) is the mids...music "floats" in the air and will definitely "fill" your room...
after a few tracks, same volume level in the amp, the
Concept 6 was hooked up...very noticeable is the "louder" sound...seems that the Concept 6 is more sensitive...we played the same Kenny Rankin Track...i can now hear the "price difference" between the Ikon 6 and the Concept 6...then we moved to Best Audiophile Voices II, aaahhhh...sweet vocals...had to close my eyes to feel the music...soothing voice of Corrine May and Eva Cassidy...honestly, this is an excellent pair of speakers for its price...i even mentioned to the AA guys that i like the Concept 6 vs. the Monitor Audio S6
(but that's me)...you can't find a pair of speakers sounding this good with this price tag...
pang best buy category sa what hi-fi 'to!...i believe that the Concept 6 has a lot of potential especially after 200-hours...paired with a good amp and CD player, this will also "fill" your room with good music......and yes, the Concept 6 is a warm-sounding floorstander...
these are my impressions in my 1-hour audition yesterday at AA...thanks again!
PS: I wonder how the Concept 6 will sound vs. the Wharfedale Diamond 9.6 vs. the Monitor Audio B4
