Has anyone tried to a/b a dali ikon 6 compared to aurum cantus leisure 2se?  ???

Leisure 2SE vs Ikon 2 would be a better comparisson.  Don't play with fire though.  hehehe.

Only tax payer's should vote !

Ace01,

will check on your post on vandy 1c
i'm currently using a50-t with wharf 9.2 hehehe...
although the amp is in the warm sound with luscious mids and high
the wharf make this seems to be forward sounding

anyway, i'm considering the vandy 1c to pair with my amp
my objective is to have the speaker seem to disappear when i listen to them
i hope ill get time some time to do this though  ;D

Try the Aurum Cantus. They sound great together.

hi mrquery!

good luck in your hunt for the speakers to pair with your a50-t ;D. if you have read my post re-vandersteen 1c as paired with the a70-t, you would appreciate why in the first place i went for that combination, which is a personal preference dictated by the music i listened to, and how i perceive good sound. Audio Amplified just a month ago let me bring home the AC 3SE's (thanks Noel and Tyrone!!!) and its combination with the a-70t works well too.. i heard a very relaxed sound, sweet highs, nice mids, and tight bass..i could enjoy my music  all day long without experiencing listening fatigue..i once listened to the 3SE's for 8 hrs straight with me glued to the chair (of course, standing up for occasional trips to the CR and to get some food). I have done the same extensive listening to the vandys with sheer enjoyment and pleasure..my point is really to give a listen to what ever combination will allow your favorite music to touch you more..btw, in my set-up, in my listening environment, the vandys do the disappearing act well, not to mention the wide soundstage..hope this helps..

Like what Ace01 have posted, you can home audition the Aurum Cantus from Audio Amplified, you just have to make arrangements with them (Noel and Tyrone), they are cool guys!

hello alexg,

i already acquire the leisure 2 sv, i was so impress the first time i tried this speakers with my A50-T, the high was sweet, the artist seems to be infront and the bass was tight.

i also tried the leisure 2 sv with my azur 540A ss amp. it did well, with more dynamic but less of the vocal presentation. i even thought of buying a next pair so both my ss/tube have the same speakers.  ;D  the only unpleasant thing i can say on this speaker was it does not extend the bass that much. but i guess thats the reason why listening to this speakers are not fatiguing. anyway i just want to express my gratitute to all pinoydvd member, specially those who tries to share as much experience with their gears.

again more power pinoydvd

Hello!  I am using Vandy 1C paired with a Conrad Johnson CAV-50.  These speakers certainly do the "disappearing act" for me.  They are very easy to listen to, no fatigue whatsoever.  You just have to get the proper speaker placement.  Best to experiment.  These speakers supposedly do well when placed far away from the rear wall.  I did exactly that.  I did not try and move them closer to the backwall until a fellow audio buff visited my place and suggested that I move them closer to the backwall.  I was pleasantly surprised with the huge improvement!

amped didn't quite get what your post is all about  ;D

anyway, i tried audioamplified's suggestion on placing the leisure 2sv near the wall since it is rear reflex. in addition i get the wharf beside the leisure out of the way (sorry wharf sa loob ka muna ng box). placed the 2sv's alone by themselves as my main speakers. i myself was amazed how it turns out. all the time the bass was there but because of the way i position the speaker seems to make the bass disappear. i know theres even more better placement for my 2sv's but for now i'll keep them in this position. (ang hirap mag-move ng gears parang lalagnatin nga ako ng binubuhat ko sila)  ;D ;D ;D

anyway for the benefit of other readers, i really love this speaker. they compliment my listening pleasure and does not give me a tiring experience. i listen to them day and night even as i type my reply to this thread.

going back on the speaker to pair on tube amps - i will recommend this speakers to anyone, anytime, of course with the consideration of room size, music preference, etc... but don't just trust my word, its still best to hear them yourself.

Taking the speaker beside the SV will allow it to breath hence you will get better dynamics and a bigger soundstage.  Tip lang, for most speakers that are rear reflex, placing it closer to wall will increase their low feq.  However, too much will make them boomy hence you lose some highs in the process.  :)

Placement is very important in bringing out the full potential of any system.

Thanks for the positive review for the SV

I use DLS R55 from Sweden. Ito ay floorstander with matching center, bookshelf (surround) and sub for HT. Pero bagay na bagay sa aking Audio Space monoblock AS-M6 KT-88. Maganda and combo ng dalawa. Walang official distributor dito sa Hong Kong pero meron sa Pinas. Call them for demo:

Music4Life,

thanks for the info, i they weren't available here because I asked Winterpine and they said they didn't have it, didn't think there would be a separate distributor for the home audio gear.

They are listed on the DLS website as one of two (Malaysia) distributors in Asia. They should know it somehow. But anyway, the R55 has a sweet sound if paired with tube amp.

I second the motion....specially for small to medium size rooms....perfect with tubes.  very clear, transparent, nice soundstage, defined separation, speakers disappear, very soft to the ears etc......

This babies can also provide enough base depending on the power of the amp.  Can also sing with low powered amps.

Speaker for keeps

Am using a single driver DIY Fostex 127e on an inverted Big is Better cabinet from diyaudio.com.

This design is quite similar to Ike's Voight discussed at wiredstate.com

I can't believe the bass that comes out of the 4.5" driver when used in this configuration.
