i just finished cataloguing my dvd collection.... i counted my original dvd collection to be at 286. i only have 3 LEs.

This is a very subjective question.

For LEs & Giftsets, I have a total of about 100.

Now I'm having trouble counting my so called "normal or regular" dvds. So far for the boxsets, 2-disc or 3-disc set: I will count them based on the invidual movie. For example:

-Bad Boys II 2-disc set is counted as 1 (bonus disc isn't counted).
-The Mummy Legends boxset 5-disc (The Mummy, Mummy Returns, Scorpion) is counted as 3 (based on movies only).
-Mini Series such as Band of Brothers 10-disc set is counted as 1.
-How about for long TV series that has over 60 discs?? Do I count all of them as 1 or based on the number of discs bought but less out the bonus disc? It seems unfair just counting them as 1 afterall the price paid for each disc is almost similar to the price of a single movie dvd.

-How about the Alien Quad Head LE that has 4 alien movies? Do I treat this as 1 LE or 4 dvds?

I think it should be on a per-title basis like pchin's ex. the Alien Quadrilogy LE. That should be counted as 4 because it is composed of 4 movies. Ocean's Eleven + Twelve: 2; Indiana Jones Boxset: 3;

For series like CSI, 24, etc. I think they should be counted on a per-season basis. If you have SEasons 1-4, they should be counted as 4.

Agree. You cannot buy TV series on a per disc basis while boxsets such as Indiana, you can buy it individually.

Good point Quitacet. I agree. Just to expound a bit.

If I am asked how many LE do I have, based on the example Alien Quadrilogy LE, I think my answer should be 1? Likewise, if I am asked how many DVD do I have, then my answer is 4?? Or LE & regular movies should not be counted together?

Another example: the Dragonball series which is available & sold either in boxset or separately (individually). I have boxset volume 1 which has 8 discs (which can be purchased individually). So do I say 1 or 8?

Perhaps the best suggestion is to count all your DVDs based on each disc except bonus/extra discs that are not part of the movie itself? Or maybe teh counting should be classified btw LEs & regulars? Haha

Just finished my title / disc count.

My latest tally amounts to 672 titles (titles in a boxed set that can be purchased individually are counted individually)

92 are 'advance' copies

but 15 of the legits I can't seem to locate! (never mind the lost 'advance copies')

It's the same as that of the 299 magna release.

I have already stopped counting due to the confusing definition of what to be counted. e.g. I have a boxset with 3 movies counted as 1 but if another person has all the same 3 movies but bought separately are counted as 3...

Geez...maybe we should have various categories for counting purposes

add 2 more, just bought mr & mrs smith and HP4 goblet of fire a week ago...

will need to add 2 more as soon as king kong gets released plus the free dvd ( i chose shark tale)
