Met new and old friends yesterday afternoon and had a blast, sobrang na-miss ko ang audio kwentuhan... thanks guys! Oh, and I can't get the iTouch out of my head!
congrats on your new dac Master J ... got my JDLabs P4 amp na sir... buddies always looking forward to more JDLabs gears btw, i lke the tweak you did on your svc avr as i also prefer iec socket
Musta Don JojoD? we miss you na
how does the dac work master, does it make compressed music sound better?
Nice meeting you again Jo and likewise first time ko rin na-meet sina john and stagea. My friend likewise enjoyed the kwentuhan.....right now nahihilo na yun and di maisip kung ano ang uunahin sa audio setup niya....heheheLooking forward din sa mga next creations mo based on our kuwentuhan And by the way ok ba sulsul ng anak ko with respect to the ipod touch....hehehehe To see is to believe and to touch is.........to buy .......ilang LOD lang yan....hehehe
brader! musta? I bought it primarily for use with my laptop whose soundcard has much to be desired. Now it's a whole new story playing music with my headamp, it really makes a big difference, and I mean big. Will soon try it on my audio setup.
hehe, eto enjoying music using the hybrid. but want to maximize my compressed music collection. layo kasi ng tunog using cd vs compressed, but i have more compressed music than pressed music, hehe. sige master, will wait for your insights when you tried it on your audio set up. thanks.
What source do you use? An iPod ba brader?
sir iiinas, baka gusto mo ito...http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=99398.msg1037782#new
naku sir, kita ko na yan. grabe walang tigil ito... hehehe
da best yan sir! DAC muna then to your hybrid. Tagal ka na walang new purchase...GO GO GO!!
Master - parang i'm itching for another project eh Paki kamot mo nga
yup, iphone and an archos player. the archos can play mp3 and wma. plano ko rin to use may old laptop to play flac (free lossless audio codec) audio. kaya looking at this dac.
Jojo,A tube newbie question...What is the difference between a 707 DAC and the CD tube buffer? If I have an Ipod Touch which of the two would best improve the SQ of compressed music? Thanks
the best connection for your iphone to your hybrid is via line out dock, planning to build 'em in the future, walang mabili locally eh... for your laptop naman, via a DAC talaga...with those connection, wala ka na magiging problema playing compressed music.
ah ok, thanks master. so pang laptop lang pala. but its interesting. will await your line out dock!
Jojo,Good day!how about this set up? ipod > line out dock > tube buffer > int. tube amp > speakers...Do i still need a tube buffer if i have an integrated tube amp? Why?Looking forward to your technological wisdom
gandang umaga Godfather JojoD... oo nga medyo abala at nalilibang... i got a chance try other tube pre-amps with cj pero sasa gawa mong aikido pa din ako nalilibang
Quote from: JojoD818 on Jul 28, 2009 at 10:01 AMGood morning sir Edwin,I've actually tried that setup with my EL34 tube amp too. The tube buffer made a difference when I was using long and capacitive interconnects that the iPod internal DAC wasn't able to drive. It was still livable without the tube buffer but everything opened up when it was in the signal path. It's possible that the internal DAC may have a relatively low output impedance that's why it had trouble with the interconnects.Kindly post the brand/model of your tube integrated amp so we can search for it specs.

Compressed music coming from ipods, iphone, mp3 players, computers, laptops and entry level cd players, etc will surely benefit from a DAC before amplification.Kaso sa dami ng DACs available - ano bang specs ang dapat hanapin? Sa akin kasi it seems that the most important factor is the type/kind of electronics inside before considering its various inputs/outputs - tama ba?
thanks...i dont have tube int. amp as of the moment, im contemplating to have one for my pure audio set up. Just collecting insights from masters before plunging into tube amps. Anyway i still have in my mind about the hybrid tube amp that i was able to audition in your place before. So based from what you said, mas mae - enhance pa ang quality output ng compressed music if a tube buffer is within the path regardless of whether a ss or tube amp is used
Hi Jojo / leftover,If I may....Jojo correct me if I am wrongBelow is how you would connect the dac and the tube buffer in the audio chain. Depends on the synergy of the components you may use the internal or external dac and/or you may plug-in or not the tube buffer in the chain.digital source (ipod/mp3s, cd players, PCs) --> dac (internal for ipod/mp3s or external) --> tube buffer (optional) --> preamp --> tube buffer (optional but not possible for integrated amp systems) --> power ampDigital source means digital signal output normal from cd players with optical or coax output connections and from PCs coming from the USB (bypassing the soundcard). If you will be connecting from the analog (RCA) output of the ipod, mp3 players, cd players and PCs, then you are utilising the internal DAC of this components.Tube buffers can be installed in between sources and pre-amps and amps because this is the signal path between the components. You cannot install the tube buffer between the poweramp and speakers. Hope this helps.Regards,JoeyGS
Correct bro. Just don't bother yourself too much on which to choose, I bought without auditioning because I have already worked with most of the chips that were used in the 707.Wag mo masyado isipin si Marian.
