it is good to have friends and better to have good friends, I'm glad I have both, today a pair of my first PDVD projects came home, not for repair but for auditioning... but I will not go there, there is something esle that came home with me... it came in a HP laptop case, just see how much care is given to it by the owner.
it is a baby G, came home with me from a friend willing to let me hear how it sounds.
the power cord said 125V so I have a step-down transformer to run it...
but before powering the Baby G, I listened to several cd's I am very familiar with my current Nad setup, just to be sure my ears can distinguish the difference.
initial impressions were not very distant, but after a minute or two, the sound began to open up, I have never heard the CDM1 sound so good, so detailed, rough as I believe it should sound and airy to a point. these were things I have not heard on my gears until now. this is not even half the price of the Nad, dang, now I want to try the Aikido... as fr.Jim recommended with el34 tubes to match the timbre.
I am currently listening to Suzanne Cianis "anthem" and I'm loving every second of it, played several Vivaldis and now I can hear the roughness of the violin as it screeches ever so lightly, Natalie Merchant's "my beloved wife(a favorite of mine)" never sounded better. and now I can hear the breathe of Carrie Underwood as she sing's another favorite "Mama's Song".
for the life of me, I cannot understand how something that cost little sound so good, and yes, like Fr. Jim commented, it hardly produces heat, my Nad on standby produces more than the Baby G after more than two hours running. I have nothing but praises for the Baby G, price, value, build quality and sound quality is very good. a friend waiting for a feedback will definitely be happy to hear a two thumbs up from me. I am not probably an audiophile, but who is anyway? my ears tell me that this is already a winner waiting for you to give it a try... I promise you, you cant go wrong with this with a great price to boot... now I understand why bro. Pip cannot stop talking about it...
congrats sir Jojo truly a piece to for everyone to behold...
