Ang dami na rin lumalabas na for audio use USB cables.  May mga variety whether you want the power supply line to be isolated from the data/signal lines.  You and Cal should explore this ...... talagang digital audio is gearing up to high definition or audiophile sound quality.

Another topic it since we will be discussing dacs and digital sources sa bukid

That should also be discussed especially that it is considered as a weak link in the chain. Fortunately for us, Digital is peanuts, it's all about 1s and 0s.

Anything under the sun brader, we will try our best to keep it technical or within the hobby pero I can't promise you that we can avoid talking about food, and drinks, etc. ;)

Didn't know where else to post this but decided to put it here as I saw your review on it.  Is the M-series CDRK USB soundcard also a DAC?

No, what I meant is that sometimes we use words indirectly describing something when posting, say, a gear.  So, other readers may not understand or get confused. We sometimes get carried away due to our excitement especially when a great idea comes along. And, again, when a particular gear or topic is discussed with these pseudo names, the discussions gets lost or is hard to search.  I agree starting on a clean slate again in improving our discussions..... and you thread is rich in valuable information that many of us can benefit.

Do I make sense?

Yes it is.  The digital information from a music track (on CD or on the hard drive) is passed into the USB line and into the USB soundcard and the output is an analog signal which can be directed into an earphone or earphone amplifier.  This is one of the cheapest way of improving music sound output from your PC/laptop via USB which bypasses the crappy internal soundcard/dac of the PC/laptop.

Thanks for the reply, my headphone voltage out was too low for the t-amp, this upped the voltage significantly on my laptop.  I hear there's a mod than can be done to this unit, can someone point me in the right direction?  Or is the unit considered ok na out of the box?  Pardon me for veering a bit out of topic and thread.

The mods I made is to change the discrete capacitor into a better one, that is, if the model you bought has 2 electrolytic capacitors.  If not, no more mods.

Hi obsi, yup it is. It is also a best buy, come to think of it's price. One mod you can do is to completely mute (physically) the mic input to make noise completely zero from that side but that requires soldering pa, pwede na yan as it is.

Yes of course. Most of the time it is the memory gap that happens, honestly. Too much excitement and we tend to forget things. ;D

ATTENTION:

There has been a cash deposit made to my account from an Eastwood branch of BDO last January 4, 2013. As of this date, I still don't know who this came from and what it was paid for.

Please advise via PM.

Many Thanks!

Jojo

Thanks again for the replies.  The ones I got I guess are the newer versions that don't have the 2 capacitors, just a small round chip like thing in the middle.  Glad to know it's good enough out of the box.  Came in a nice casing color too...smoked black.  Comparing it to the prices of other DACs, this is a steal, well for my simple purposes anyway.

This is the modifiable model sir obsi...

But the other models are also fine out of the box. I know a few friends who also makes these as cheapo solutions for VirtualDJ applications.

How do I do this?

1. Remove mic input jack
2. Locate left and right hot signal input vias.
3. Short both vias to ground.

:)

EDIT: Or if you are weary about messing up with the dual sided board, get a stereo headphone plug and just short everything in there and plug that to the mic input jack. ;)

Nice obsi .... I have both M Series (w/ and w/o capacitors) and I think another series, D ata.

BTW, you are from Sta. Rosa? If yes, we can meet sometime in my place to hear JojoD's DIY creations.

For me, the M Series is smoother in sound than the D series.  The M series will further improve with the DIY tweaks implemented as suggested by JojoD (O di na OT ha).  The D series has higher gain than the M Series which can handle earphones which are difficult to drive.  But again, you have the option to use a headphone amp.

Sir Joey,

What would you recommend among these?

I would like to give it a try also :)

Sorry for the OT sir Jojo :)

Wow ganda ng circuit board nito.

There is a mirror image ...... so this must be stereo and dual mono?  Amp?

Sir obsi, that uses tantalum smd caps. Ayus na yan! ;)

Ay yun shorted plug thingy na lang try mo din para mawala whitenoise caused by the mic input.
