jojoD818, any reason why it is battery powered as opposed to an transformer?
Hi Gino,
The criteria for the project involved mobility and portability, psu noise and nature.
You can bring the amp with a pair of small speakers to a park or a cemetery and have good music. My late parents love music so I bring a battery powered amp and a LOD'd iPod as source to the cemetery.
There has been great discussions about battery power noise between geeks and wannabes, I'll leave it at that. But to fulfill the idea of mobility and portability, I only thought of a battery to solve that.
Going green has always been a crazy realm in engineering, again there has been crazy discussions about the sonics of Class D amps but the efficiency offered by these class of amps is just too great to be overlooked. No vacuum state amp or solid state amp even comes close to this criteria so it's got to be the one. Imagine powering a SET with batteries, it's not impossible but not appropriate for this application that requires good sonics and portability.
Who knows, maybe I'll try a solar powered t-amp in the future.
