Okidoks brader, sabay sabay na yan pag hataw ko this February. Nandito na daw yun casing ng DAC natin, di ko pa tinitignan at napasarap pa makinig. Sama na sa metal works sched ko yan.

PS: Kakatuwa yun album ni Sam Smith, last Sunday ko lang nadinig yan hehehe...

Got it brader!

One of those sulit albums yang "In the lonely hour", hanap ka ng deluxe version may mga bonus tracks including duet nya with Mary J. Blige in "Stay With Me"  ;)

Ayos yang boses ni Sam Smith pang test ng system's mid highs & highs  8)

I have been wanting to DIY a y-USB cable separating the power from data.  However, there are so many questions to get answered......

1.  What if ..... One input end is power only and the the other input end is power/data?
2.  Or ..... One input end is power only and the the other input end is data only?
3.  How do you handle grounding?

So many other questions on how to approach the assembly.......

Thanks!

Been catching up on some tech notes from Intel and TI regarding USB design guidelines. Very interesting read that also touches appropriate USB cable designs.

Can I give it a try?

I opted for a wallwart linear psu instead of an smps. However, I did do some heavy design mods to make it low noise and stiff.

My research in learning USB communications has led me to download (and read, buti na lang may tablet) technotes, white papers, design guidelines from manufacturers that seems to have one thing in common, grounding is not a major part of the problem, nor is routing of the data/power lines. The main issue that needs to be addressed is shielding, more specifically EMI shielding as this is the one nuisance that would affect high speed USB communications.

I also learned that the common knowledge of using ferrite cores in the cables neither help nor do anything in terms of EMI shielding as these were common-mode approaches.

If you'll notice iFi's implementation was to couple the data via "impedance matching" which I implemented in my prototype. ;)

Sorry but this one's staying in my setup. ;)

I'm in the process of building a batch for friends abroad, then a few projects in between (I have a ss preamp, a Marantz to upgrade and mine/deist's AKM DAC pending in the line) then a batch for local orders.

Magpapasobra na lang ako, at half the price, baka hindi mo na ibalik eh!

Sige let's discuss it one of this days so I can make a prototype.....

I was at Cyberzone kahapon looking for suitable cable donors, nagpunta na ako sa Belkin and Apple center pero it seems diy implementation would be the preference.

First things first muna, ako stock and Belkin cables lang muna so I can have a better gauge.

Ok then.... can you make me one with a 9v DC 1A output linear PSU for the iFi iUSB?

I reckon their a lot better than my stock cables.

My niece who works for a local pc parts importer told me that the cables Asus uses in their external drives also comes from Belkin manufacturer. Another candidate is the cable used by HP in their printers. I hope she can get me some to try and play with.
