Plus still learning the use of the toy kaya madalas ako mabalian ng bits... Pero di na kasing dalas nung early days... ;D
Nageenjoy ako lately sa toy ko.  ^-^

Kasama daw talaga yun mabalian ng bits, though eventually maiinip ka naman kasi wala na excuse to buy new ones, bihira din mag dull. :) Glad to know nag eenjoy ka sa new toy mo brader.

Jen it didn't went through, kindly resend it.

Btw, my Mede8er psu conked out almost 3 years ago, now it is powered by a psu I made along with 3 external hard drives. The media player and the 3 pieces Mybook HDs are powered from a common power source, wala na wallwarts. ;D

Yup nakakainis talaga, di mo naman maitapon yun mga 1tb na hard drives so dagdag lang ng dagdag. Tsaka isa master switch lang para sa lahat.

In my case mas nauuna mamatay ang hdd vs wallwart. Siguro lagi connected hdd's mo. Akin kasi pang backup lang. So disconnected when not in use.

Sa always connected hdd's mo, ilang years or months ang life span ng hdd mismo?

Hi Jo! Replied via PM. We will go ahead with your recommendation. I understand this PSU can also power several ext HDDs right?

So far wala pa ako nasira (knock on woodwork) since 2008.

Hi Jen, sorry for the lare reply, was still dreaming when you called (yawn). ;D Yes, aside from your Probox, you can also power eternal HDDs from it.

In my case, I power a MED8er 500X media player, 2 pieces WD 1TB Mybook and 1 2TB in an external case. All powered from a single psu which I modded to suit my needs. :)

All I ever see are standard ATX supplies which depending on the application can be made into a fanless one. As for the cooler, I saw copper fin coolers but they all have fans.

This I haven't seen locally. I think the HTPC cases already comes with their mini-ITX supplies?

Are fans a problem because the are physically audible or do they introduce problems in the signal chain? In my room my AC and electric fan are way louder than any pc fan.

It was said that if you pass a magnet to a coil, you induce current and if you pass current on the same coil, you also induce magnetism.

In reality, depending on the position of the fan's coils, it either requires current or induces current through inertia. Since the fan is powered from the same power supply, this continuous current draw/discharge cycle will re-introduce noise to the system causing havoc to other electronics.

Your AC and electric fan are not powered from the same psu, but the pc fans are.

So a dedicated psu for the fan can alleviate some of the problems. It may be a stop-gap approach where fan-less is not possible.

Indeed it does. There's so many places unwanted noise can come from and we would want to eliminate them as much as we can.

Yes. These are available locally. I was contemplating on using the Seasonic fanless PS in my build last year but my GPU requires too much power, the programs I use are both CPU & GPU intensive so going silent was not a primary requirement. As for the fanless CPU cooler; it has been around for a few years now...I usually check TPC for these items as most of the mall computer parts store don't carry some of them.
