Am doing good Mcdon......you should try hybrids with tube source and/or preamp coupled with ss power amp.  Warmness plus speed

hep hep bawal yan sir, use your ears lang dapat. just in case tubes are not your cup of tea then why go tubes? 

all I'm saying is if you love listening to music then why not give tubes a try, whether you like it or not is up to you and will/should be respected by the audio community...

Got this from sir jojo yesterday (altho 1 week ago pa reserved). Tried it out on my system composed of : pioneer 655A player, marantz SR4500 receiver, mundorfed wharfedale diamond 9.2, 9cs, 9dfs, MS 10 sub (although yung 9.2's lang ginamit ko for testing). Initial impressions: slightly different characteristic ng sound with the tube pre-amp

               1. mas lutang/forward ang male vocals (wala noticable change pag female vocals)
               2. mas resonant ang guitars (dati tingg....ngayon TIng-g-g-g-g...    ) and piano
               3. mas may detail pag konti lang instruments, pero parang slightly less detail                   
                   pag maramihan na (symphonies,etc)

overall, pleasant yung change, mas parang lounge-y ang feeling/dating ng sound (which might not be for everyone, though), bumalik yung warmth ng sound na nawala after ako magpa-mundorf. Anyway, a few hour's listening pa lang ito, baka magbago pa, hehe. Thanks again sir jojo.

ganda tumunog ng 2a3 amp na to. i really like the 6gk5 tube. naka CCS pa! this amp has plenty of drive - this easily drove the 15" beyma coaxial that lin gomez of music box made. we tested the speakers at his demo room at musicbox. gusto ko yung character ng 2a3 with my 10" alnico fullrange (now with eminence helper tweeter) in my room. tapped to the amps 16 ohm output - malambot tumunog.

and your phonostage! that extra tube really made a difference. no change in volume when switching between cd and phono. a worthy investment indeed. time to look for a better cartridge than my shure m92e.

pag me pera uli, another project for my excess tubes. i have 4 6ar6 tungsol tubes that i wanted made- either a single ended or push-pull. but my preference right now is on single ended.

there are still lot of CDs waiting to test the amp which seems will never show any fatigue

btw, the vintage ELK tube mic mixer has 7 12ax7... inalis ko lang to clean the pins and all are good
as i tested them from my amp pati tubes nos

Early this week I received a package from Baguio and with it are 2 amp modules from LE Amps. The evaluation boards Deni sent me is already populated and all i need to do is supply power and the MOSfet outputs.

This is my V1 MOSfet amp test bed...





This amp works great! Lows are well within control and the mids are up front but not in your face. The highs are acceptable but it surely can be made even better. I'll let it run for a few more days and check stability. I already burned a pair of IRF output MOSfets and 2 emitter resistors in the effort to find this amp's limits (it's not the amp's fault - it was my fault), but power is more than enough for headroom.

LE Amps did a great job in the design of this amp. Even with the use of general purpose transistor compliments (to make it readily available), the amp sounds great. I'm sure a lot of solid state amps out there will have a hard time keeping up with this one. As I am still running the amp at sir Benny's recommended current of 40mA, I plan to increase it to 60mA or perhaps 100mA as high as my heat sinks can go.

I plan to modify and exploit the MOSfets gate's capacitance to really make it as close as possible to sound like tubes. Other mods like carefully chosen, high ft and matched differential and current mirror transistors will be next on the list. I guess a small JD Labs mod to an LE Amp wouldn't hurt.

you were right... good power in, good power out

it tested the amp with with those unpopular nos 5751 and nos japanese 12au7s and the
most hated EL34EH and alas.... pwede nang i-garahe muna ang mga famous and exotic brands

those tubes exhibit their bests and compliments with the modified psu of the amp.
nasa psu nga pala ang weakness aking amp ...o di kaya may deprensya na pandinig ko

Do not under estimate the EL34EH.  I myself is currently using a 6CA7 EH also an equivalent of the EL34 and am enjoying it.  More bass pa and not expensive.  If you want more bass, try the 6CA7.  Ask JojoD, fan din iyan ng 6CA7

correct ka po, actually i have 2 sets of quad EL34EH and a quad of 6CA7EH... i haven't tried the fat bottles yet with the modified
amp... i'm deeply enjoying the thin bottles pa
cant get away with the el34s because of its sonic signature in the midrange
