most people like the shure particularly the 447 because of the fuller bass.
my personal preference is the AT because of the mids :)
no experience with stanton but i believe use mainly for DJing as it has better tracking :)

check out www.vinylengine.com for cart alignment :)

If you want to lessen the bass and have richer mids, simply swap the stock replaceable stylus (N44) with a N55 stylus w/c is available also in Audiophile. I don't change VTF when I do the swap. It has a more refined character vs the stock which is more for club use.

Hi TT gurus,

Need help po. I just got an old Hitachi Lo-D HT-352 direct Drive TT (looks junk but still working, it has a dust cover but already detached and lots of cracks, the unit need to be re-polish,  also needs a needle replacement).

-Where can I buy the same stylus for this kind of TT?
-Is it ok to completely remove the dust cover and replace it with a cloth when not in use?
-what is the safe cleaner or polish to use?

Thanks in advance.

It will help if you can post a pic of your ttable. I'm not sure if it's a1/2 mount or P-mount cartridge required. You can buy either mount cart at Audiopjile stores. They carry the Shure line of cartridges. The Shure M92 is a P-mount w/ an adaptor for 1/2 mount. This may be your best bet. Cart mounting will be your next problem. Check this out: http://www.audiophilia.com/features/cartridge_setup.htm

Many remove the covers and just leave open. You may use a light cloth, but be carefull when removing. You may catch the stylus. :'(   On the other hand, you may have a new acrylic cover made.

Polish? Plege is ok. Don't use on the rubber mat or cartridge.

Thank you very much sir stereopile,

I got a pic from the net of Hitachi HT-354 which is the same with my unit, but don't know how to post the image.

I'll post the net image or the actual unit later.
I've been from audiophile and they have the shure stylus worth Php 2500 mura na po ba yun?,  they ask me to bring the headshell and they will also install it for me once I bought the cart.

I also found out na putol ang ground wire, pinagdugtong ko na lang, do I need to solder it?  Thanks po.

Hi Sir Stereopile here's the pics from the net. This is the Hitachi Lo-D HT-354 mine is Hitachi Lo-D HT-352 features and appearance are the same the only difference is the color 352 is silver, rubber mat different in design, and mine is too old and without cover.

3j- You are lucky. Your ttable uses a universal headshell. You can use 1/2 mount carts. You have many options. I recommend a Shure M44-7 because the stylus is replaceable & avavailable at audiophile stores. No problem with the ground wire twisted together. If you want a better grounding, it is best if you have a new and longer one soldered to the grounding tab-replacing the old one. It wont cost you much. As to the cover, you can have a new one made for it. Just bring the original with the hinges attached. They can transfer the hinges. Enjoy your analog journey.

Both current NAD and Pro-Ject phonostage pre-amps have a USB outputs, and are locally available.

As for the technics,  visit the Marketplace section once a while.   :)

This is OK, but is like a "toy"...do not expect too much on the sound quality, but it serves its purpose...I have two of these...HOWEVER, as per your link, the price is WAY TOO MUCH...Thanks!

Hi,
I have moved to Cebu from UK and shipped over my Hi-Fi seperates and my 50+ year old Vinyl collection as well as some 78 rpm's.

Okay, my Cambridge Audio Amp, Mission and Gale speakers, JVC Graphic etc work fine here as UK has a similar voltage but my 27 year old Sony Front Loader turntable cannot be used here because the cycle rate in The Phils is 60hz instead of 50hz in the UK. My records would spin 20 faster. ha ha.

What I need is some help about anywhere in Cebu that I could buy a decent quality turntable, hopefully one like the Project USB which can either be used for converting to MP3 or be used as a normal turntable with my amp.  I have been to Soundroom in SM Cebu and many other stores but "No stock!" is all I hear.

I also shipped a ION USB turntable over here in the container but it has a fault and only records off one channel, apparently a batch of these ION's had a fault but I don't plan on going back to the UK to sort it out

If anyone can help with some info on where to get my Vinyl back on the road again I would be grateful,  I am not happy with my small CD collection.

Thanks in advance

Hi Pete,

Project turntables can be bought in manila and I guess shipping to cebu is not a problem.

You can contact Acoustic Dimension and following is the link in another local website:

http://www.wiredstate.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=5248&hilit=project+turntables

BTW, are you filipino?

Goodluck and regards,
