Getting good music from a turntable requires some patience and technical familiarity with this vintage medium. It could also be very expensive, especially cost of vinyls sold in the market nowadays. Good analog sound requires a lot of cash, unless you're an oldtimer in this game.
If you just want your parents to hear their types of music, there are many file-sharing and low-cost music sites on the web today where you can get old songs that aren't available at local music stores. Almost a decade ago, I downloaded free from Napster and Audio Galaxy (both RIP) a lot of songs from Mantovani, Enoch Light and the Light Brigade, Glenn Miller, etc. for my parents. All you have to do is ask your parents the songs they want and you can get them online, either free or for a marginal cost.
