I used the same receiver (Yammy 650) on my M34 last year. Then went for a HK630, you could immediately hear the difference. Mas ma
kapal tumunog yung MIDs compared to the previous setup specially in music, mas may authority sa HT. Iba talaga nagagawa ng well fed/powered floorstander.
Now I am using M52, I dont know if it will sound as good on my old Yammy 650. But judging from my previous experience between 2 different class of receivers, I am not quite sure it will. The
mids are the strong point of the M5's & an underpowered mid level speaker having
thin MIDs defeats the purpose in HT & specially in music IMO.
But thats just my 2 cents. Dont take my word for it, just audition it & trust your ears
i'll try to bring my yammy 650 to the shop, tignan ko kung kaya nya drive ang m34 at m52 at try ko din audition yun m53 na gwapon gwapo. hope you guys can help me decide kasi i'm still a newbie in this hobby and hindi ko alam how to audition correctly and what thing i need to hear when auditioning.
For HT, listen to the mids. The HF is easy to power & I beleieve the M5's will excell at this even with lower powered receivers. The LFE is handled by the sub, so the mids are the best thing to listen to. Bring Jurassic Park DVD's (wag p**ted
), in my M52 setup, the T-REX roar was
w/ these wonderful speakers. You will notice its the mids punching in the syllables of the R-R-R &
NOT the sub. Try also Gangs of New York in Demo#8. When the cannons explode (a very demanding scene IMO) & masakit sa tenga, sadly di kaya ng receiver
.
In 2 channel music (pure direct mode) listen for the whole audio spectrum from highs to Lows. The HF & bass of the M5 is much more
refined than the the M3's and the mid should be thick (not thin). Actually, when there is music while watching HT, you will suddenly notice the music compared to ur old setup, ang ganda ng music performance ng M5's, even as B/G music lang ng movie. Kahit sa M5ds surrounds pa galing!
