@maco,
nasubukan mo na sa divx videos na hiwalay ang subtitle files?

i just learned about subtitle files TODAY, and check agad ako sa pinoydvd kung may discussion about this.. tamang tama pala may nagmention dito 3 days ago lang...  :)

may mga na-dodownload akong divx movie  na may subtitle files.. i wondered what this was so nag-google ako. Pag sinanma mo pala ang 2 files na ito (SUB and IDX format) sa divx movie, and you play the movie on your pc, it will play with the subtitles on. Galing! kala ko DVD lang meron nito.. now ang gusto ko naman e magplay din sya sa LEXING 906 ko. I burned a DVD w these 3 files.. pero di lumabas ang subs.

Yung question mo ba is for the newer version of Lexing? doon ba pwede? Di pwede sa Lexing 906? Or baka pwede using other formats like SRT. (I understand kasi na may diff formats ang subtitle files, pero puro SUB yung meron ako. I think pwedeng i-convert using a utility pero di ko pa natry)

Can anyone share their experiences regarding this? May ibang thread ba about this?

And if di talaga kaya ng 906 , option ko (short of buying a new player) is to re-encode the divx file incorporating the subtitles.. my advice ba kayo dyan what utility to use?  Yung sana di masyadong matagal mag re-encode at di mag-suffer ng degradation (lossless to lossless yata kasi pag ni-reencode ang divx uli?)

Kaya agree ako dyan sa sinabi nyo, someone start a community for us DIVX users!!  ;)

maco... may suggestion ako. May mga websites dyan na available for download ang mga subtitle files.
baka merong subtitle for ur divx movie. Kung wala man, just download ANY FILE for testing purposes.
Tapos rename mo lang filename to match your divx movie. Try mo sa PC mo, it should show subtitles.. DI LANG NGA MAGKAMATCH  ANG dialogue sa movie..  ;D  pero for testing purposes lang naman...

ako try ko siguro if i can find SRT file, try ko uli sa 906.. pero di siguro pwede kasi old model na to. Yung sinasabi nyong bagong lexing baka pwede na

this would a whole lot simpler if you guys just use the DIVX TEST CD V.2 to test your player's subtitle capabilities.  ;)

LEXing ... the idx-sub is quite tricky... not many players can play them. even the branded ones have trouble with them.

as for subs with the timing wrong... there are a LOT of subtitle editors out there where you can correct the timing. (if it's an SRT file, you can even edit the timing using notepad.)

how to burn permanent subs... i already mentioned in a previous post that you can use VOBSUBMOD for that. it's actually quite easy if you have the substation alpha format of the sub already.  ;)

i did answer my question. its a Lexing DVD/DIvX 8066, has MMC/SmartMedia and USB. I was able to test the LastManStanding DivX6 video from my mobile drive as well my Canon's MMC pictures. There is little problem with split second delay on the sound when playing on the USB but i think i can do something about it. I was playing with the functions and menu and came across with rear and front delays menu but i havent tried it yet. I got the palyer from stall#22 raon shopping center for 2000 comes with a mic, games and 500song karaoke DVD. My HT is now complete on a narrow budget

also bought 8066 a while ago, nung i-sinetup ko na, may naririnig akong mahinang humming sound sa audio, using rca line-out pero audible na to kung mataas ang volume. normal lang ba to sa 8066? ok na ok na sana kaya lang i'm worried dun sa humming sound, nawawala yung humming sound pag gumagalaw yung tray like eject o kaya pag binabasa yung cd/dvd, pero pag viewing na nanduon na ulit yung humming sound. sa 006 kasi wala namang humming sound eh

Hi sirs,
I'm planning to purchase a divx player in the next week. I've read all the previous posts and found out that each player has a downside.
Can someone tell me what is the best player in the market today?
Lexing 8066 or Lexing 099 or Lexing 009 or Xtreme Sd-166 or others?

Preferably the type that can play ANY fansubbed video, from DB to Oyasumi to Ureshi to Megami to Kyuuketsuki to WtW, any.

I've read about lots of models in the previous posts, which really got me confused now on what i should buy.

Please help, thank you.=)

On LEXING 8066: I'm having some difficulties with this player. Sometimes, the subtitles on dvd video aren't displaying properly (timing issue). On the usb side, when i use usb harddisk and the video files are fragmented inside the disk, I encounter lags, a/v desynching and worst, the player restarts. so before i watch videos in my usb hdd, i defrag it first in my pc which is really a pain in the ass (time consumption). On the good side of this player, it really never overheats on me. i can leave the player on for almost 15 hrs without problems. (that's when i play files on my hdd, haven't tried on dvd though) Hmm, the longest time i used this player on dvd was about 9hrs and it delivered it's service without any problems..  :)

If that is what you want then you should buy a XBOX and have it modded for home theater use. Since it is in reality a PC, it will play ALL fansubbed anime provided you load it with the proper codec.

Fansubbed anime comes in all shapes and sizes - ogg, mkv, h.264, wmv9 - aside from your regular divx. Then again there are divx flavors that is not standalone player friendly. At the current state of affairs, no standalone player, branded or generic, will play all of them.

Well, time to buy a new dvd player again... I looked up my very 1st post here and its almost EXACTLY 1 year (3 days to go lang!) ago... wow, what a coincidence.  Happy to say, the Lexing 906 I bought (almost) a year ago is still alive and kicking... its an older player I need to put to pasture (I guess i could have it fixed for 500 to 800 pesos, but i'd just add 1,000+ to that and i could get a NEW Divx capable player so...)

Anyway, I'm open to buying a diff brand than Lexing (my 906 is good, but it still encounters discs it cant play that plays on others). However, this 8066 model intrigues me...

Any complete review for this baby?  The USB feature is great... and i understand theres SD/MMC slot too?  5.1 surround sound ba??  Someone asked if it can play subtitiles on DivX files.. dont think its been answered.  This model is at least close to six months old... at 2,000 price this June?  Is it cheaper now? Any newer, better models (Lexing or other brands) ?

Excited na naman ako bumili ng Player just like last year!!!  ;D

One question pala: Sometimes I burn discs on my DVD writer sa PC.. burns successfully, reads and plays in the PC... but error or wont read at all sa Lexing... sometimes I think its the media i use ( -R is better than +R). Question is,  I wonder if depende rin sa player? If my PC can read it, some players out there should be able to play it also right?  Hopefully this new 8066 (or some other model) is not as picky...

Question pala..  can this play more types of Divx? IN my current Lexing 906, it can play maybe 70% of the AVI-Divx files i download.. the rest ayaw mag play or audio only.. because of newer codecs i guess (xvid, etc). Have to re-encode pa, hassle!  Hopefully this newer model can play more if not all types of AVI/Divx files now...?

Ok yan ah, daming freebies (ako Karaoke VCD lang libre last time.. mas ok yang 500songs DVD with free mic pa..  :) ).  Yung games na Free,  yan yung standard na lumang games no? Sana naman mas bago.. hehe...  ;D   Im thunking siguro 10 years from now, ang free games na sa mga DVD (or Blu-ray players siguro by that time  ;D ) is mga PS1 games.. hehe.. matutuwa tayong mga oldies pero mga anak natin e macocornihan... ;D

Just to give updates...

went to raon yesterday.. Lexing 8066 still available, for 2,000. (di man lang bumaba ng price, same price since June!!! In fact, i even saw my old model Lexing 906 bough last year at 1,700 now selling at 1,900!! tumaas pa!! who in their right minds would buy this, e merong cheaper and newer units... may usb pa)

theres a new model , LEXING 8065. You would think this is an older model since its 1 digit lower than 8066.. but its actually the latest model (go figure!!)  P 1,500 lang sya, you can negotiate 1,450 siguro lowest price.. comes with 1,000 videoke songs in 1 DVD9, games w/ pads, and a USB port. The catch is, the USB port is at the back, not in front. Its main difference with the older 8066 model is, 8066 has both USB and SD/MMC Slot, and theyre at the front, not back.

Anyway,  i saw a diff brand i liked, so i bought that instead. Kingsonic for 1500, with usb and sd card in front. Looks great so far.. it managed to play some discs that my Lexing 906 cant...

maybe you got some lemons there. before when i bought my 906, it cannot play some of my discs so i returned the unit and got it replaced with the same model. just  as i thought, its only a calibration problem. it can now play almost 93% of my entire collection here. i even used the cheapest media available and it still plays flawlessly

when playing w/ external hdd, the problem is that the file must be defragmented.. it can play fragmented files but there's a catch, you can't use the 'goto/time' button, pausing and playing the movie have huge delays in player response, and the most painful is you can't ff/rew correctly. you'll end up skipping the file or worse, resetting the player which means the power in the enclosure (if 3.5hdd enclosures no problem but if for 2.5...) will be tripped and there will be a huge chance of hdd head crash.. very scary nightmare  :)
