Vintage Pioneer Receivers
« on: Oct 24, 2005 at 02:17 PM »
Are there collectors of vintage pioneer gear in the forum?

I love vintage pioneer receivers.
I have a pioneer SX1250, an SX 1080 and an SX636.

Here's a picture of my 1080 and the 1250 units:

The SX-1250 was introduced in 1976 as Pioneer's top-of-the-line receiver.  It reflected Pioneers new styling of matching silver tuning dial with white background signal strength and stereo signal meters.  It was Pioneer's most powerful and feature-laden receiver that year, capable of pumping out 160 watts per channel.  It was beautifully finished in walnut veneers and solid walnut trim.  It had a list price of $900.00 and tipped the scales at 65 pounds.

If you have a chance to get these units, do not hesitate to do so. They are very good units. The tuner sections, the phone sections are fantastic.

Yes. If this is the article you are referring to. http://www.bworldonline.com/Weekender111105/focus2.php

Guys please read the article written by Mr. Hernani De Leon who really knows the Philippine Audio scene. The article is a very good read. Let's hope we get more articles from Bureau chief Hernani.

Read that article sir.  And if I'm not mistaken, Hernani de Leon is none other than Sandawa (just a guess ;)).  Kaya pala magaling sumulat..Mindanao Bureau Chief ng BusinessWorld :).  I just hope none of the surplus shop owners read BusinessWorld ;D

I have this one PIONEER SX 939. Will take and post actual pictures soon.

From the Net...

"The SX-939 was introduced in 1974 and manufactured through 1975. It was second only to the SX-1010 in terms of performance and price during those two years.  It was rated at 70 watts per channel and had a frequency response of 7 to 100,000 Hz!  It had a retail price of just under $600 and weighed just over 40 pounds. "

Thanks.

I remember going after a European version of the 939. 9930 or something. Later i tried again to get a 939 from Mr. Art Flores. It was gone when i reached his place in Las Pinas. However, he offered me an SX1080, a more powerful model which I immediately snatched up.

Hi Lordfoo, sent you pm.

Loved the gears that you have posted...as I myself uses Pioneer Vintage gears, starting from the SX1050 integrated amp, that I inherited from my father, and the Spec 1 and M-22 class A amplifier. I also have the PL 510 TT and two 514's, one made in Cebu, that I keep as spare.

I have a spare M-22 that needs repair, and would like to ask where you get your gears fixed.

thanks....
