Keanna is right: Mariposa is not a butterfly. It is actually a moth. I do not know what moth is in Tagalog.

I think Rustom's coming out story is scripted (by him). He beat around the bush for far too long.

Yeah, I stand corrected. I found this post from the other forum.

Most of us may have laughed at Keanna when she said that it was a
moth (gamu-gamo) and not a butterfly (paru-paro) as Rustom insisted.

But hey, to my surprise, the lady knew what she was talking about!
It was in fact a moth. You could tell it from the body nang dumapo
sa binti ni Rustom.

Besides, when Keanna said, "May paru-paro ba sa gabi?", that made
sense, especially if we would recall iyong kwento ni Dr. Jose Rizal
(as Keanna has referred to) about the moths flying close to the
light until the fired ate them up. Why would Rizal be in front of a
lighted gas lamp if it wasn't dark?

Anyway, checking the website, i found out that the basic difference
between a moth and a butterfly is the time when these insects are
active. Butterflies fly during daytime, while moths are active at
night.

Now about Mariel being fed by the writers to call it mariposa is
also the same as saying it was a butterfly since mariposa is the
spanish word for butterfly.

Could it be he was just nervous and didn't know how to go about telling the world he's gay?

That talk was never broadcast on the live feed. The whole time that Rustom and Keanna were talking (which was around 3 am), the camera was firmly focused on Budoy sleeping in the boys' room.

Also late last night, I was watching the live feed, they were gathered and sitting on the garden floor (it was a task yata), he referred to that incident again, about "binugbog ako ng tatay ko" and while he continued the screen promptly blanked out to the PBBCE logo.  When the live feed resumed, someone else was talking. :P

ABS-CBN's editing is weird, as if naman we don't already suspect what he was going to confess...

I thought it was only our connection. just as rustom starts narrating, the screen went on standby and the live feed resumed when all the HMs were clapping after rustom's story.  >:(

Kind of defeats the purpose of having a "live" feed, huh?

Pretty annoying, but I honestly haven't turned on my live feed in over 2 weeks, anyway.

Honestly? I watched the Opening. Haven't seen a single episode completely since then, and stopped recording it, as well. I got annoyed by all the crying I'd see every single time I'd catch a part of an episode. I felt it was actors hamming it up for the cameras and not strangers interacting a la REAL "Big Brother" franchises.

Which explains my absence on this thread this season when compared to last.

On a funny side note, I just got back from Boracay... and the hotel I stayed in actually had the 24 hour PBB live feed on cable.  ;D

You're right, there's a profusion of tears during this season! I can't help but think that they're also hamming it up. But the one good thing about this season is that these people don't seem to have as much mental strength. Two people have already broken down mentally, and two more are on the verge of it.

postings from another forum:
Quote
It's amazing how things turned out inside the pbb house this season. i was most impressed with the relationship that blossomed among rustom, john and keana. who would've thought that the 3 of them would end up as close as they are now.

rustom who is classy and filled with wisdom; keana who is tactless and crazy-funny; and john who is far younger in age compared to the other 2.

i think more than the entertainment they bring, they have become icons of some sort... not as individuals, but together as friends. hindi pala talaga imposible sa mundo ng showbiz ang ganitong friendship. ang ganda. mas maganda kasi nakikita mo mismo sa sarili mong mga mata. nakita ko kung pano nag-start at paano nagsa-subsist ngayon.

and now, this revelation from rustom to keana is really a testament. hindi madaling mag-reveal ng secret. and most of the time, the easiest way to bring it out is to tell it to a friend. sure, may cameras, but rustom could have just as easily told the entire household instead of confiding it first to one person.

rustom said to big brother, "gusto ko mag-open up kay keana. i trust her enough."

and now, i realize, kung hindi vina-value si keana ng mga taong dapat ay nagpapahalaga sa kanya, siguro ngayon namamatay na sila sa hiya.

what a lesson to us all.

i watch this show to be entertained; yet, i get more than what i bargained for... ang daming lessons na nakukuha pala from the most unlikely people.

wish ko na lang ngayon ay sana, yung na-gets kong lessons ay na-gets rin ng iba... because if not, rustom would have a hard time once he leaves the house. i don't think shunning him would be a fitting reward to a man who was brave enough to tell the world who he is.

So what better way to do it than on national television? And remember kay Keanna lang nya sinabi, nagkataon lang na may cameras, so nakatulong yun para masabi na nya ang matagal na nyang gustong aminin, sa publiko, sa pamilya at mga kaibigan nya, at syempre, sa sarili nya. For Rustom, I am sure it will be a liberating experience as well... to finally tell the people, "the whole world", who you truly are.

couldn't agree more.

i didn't like rustom when he entered the house however, i found new respect for him with this coming out.  let's try to understand his predicament.  being gay as it is is hard enough, what more if you belong in a family like his - madaming bruskong kapatid at may babaerong ama (na may traditional macho attitude).  besides, being physically hurt as a child with something you don't fully understand would scar one for life!  no wonder, it took him this long to come out. at least now, malinaw na ang lahat...

Same here.

I did not like rustom, keanna, and john pratts before. ngayon iba na tingin ko sa kanila.
They are starting to get my respoect.

Keanna is sometimes sensible magsalita and also...  magaling magpatawa.

Si John naman magaling makisama.

Isn't Rustom the very first male showbiz personality to out himself?

For the female, it is Aiza, right?

My wife and I both agree that Rustom's decision to out himself on national TV is a big boost to the gay movement in the country. My wife even cried when he said "mabuting tao ako."

I think Rustom has got a lot of guts for doing what he did. I take my hat off to him.

Every coming out story is a big boost to the gay movement. It does not matter whether you are a celebrity or not. You need not be ashamed of what you are.

i guess, one of the hardest thing in coming out to pinoy families is that fact that pinoy often boxed gays into stereotypes.  however, stereotyped man o hindi, it won't matter. ika nga ni dorian gray, di dapat ikahiya!  ;D

Magandang Umaga Pilipinas this morning already showed the Padillas reaction to Rustom's coming out last night.  Mommy Eva Padilla said she wasn't even surprised about the revelation, but it's good to hear from her that the family will be always be behind Rustom... or something to that effect.  Mario Dumawal also got some reaction from Robin Padilla and said that the best thing to do now is support Rustom  to this "new journey he's about to take in his life."  He was also hats off to his brod for having the guts to come out on national TV :).
