thanks to all your gripes I went for the 1-disc yesterday.  pq and aq is excellent.  packaging sucks also.  P650 is still a lot of money. :(  nice remake though.

moral of the lesson, unless it's a warner release, opt for the r1 version.  dahil sulit lahat kahit na mahal.

Depends on what the consumer looking for. Some really don't care too much about packaging as long as the discs are intact, and the price difference is another disc you can add to your collection.

Or two, since there was a free disc included in the special offer, as well.

Sorry, but I don't think you should be complacent with a so-so release just because it is in region 3. Remember, Warner and Viva (at least the Fox movies) releases excellent quality region 3 titles, at par with their region 1 counterpart. If those two companies can do it, Magna should strive to be the same.

haha.  Mukha na at amoy P^@^@% pa.  True only a few of pinoydvd members don't really care about the packaging.  Main thing is the disc.  But for me I'm more on the packaging side. :)

I would just like to ask. Do stores like Astro has a "no cancellation on reservation" policy. I'm not an R3 collector but I just felt bad for those who had no choice but to get this kind of release due to availing of the reservation. I had the R1 version 1week ahead of the local release and when I saw this one on the store shelves, I thought they should had not displayed it side by side with HP & Goblet of Fire R3.

i have no regrets at all. my twin seven year olds have been watching the movie everyday since I brought it home (specially the t-rex battle). they can rough handle this copy and I won't get high blood about it at all.

it doesnt make sense if you dont care about the packaging. i mean it's a 50-50 thing.  walang dating kung so so lang yung packaging no.  it's a part of the whole package.

I'm not much of a packaging person myself. It's not that I don't care about it, but it's really not a big thing for me. Maybe it's because my company does a lot of packaging projects, and the challenge many times is to make a so-so product seem better than it really is. Here the reverse is true: the product is very, very good.

If I really can't stand the case, I replace it from my stash of Amarays. Of course it sets me back Php22 but it's still cheaper than buying the R1s.

Given the choice between a very expensive set and this one... with only the packaging as the difference, I think that most of us would go for the latter.  At some point, you would have to decide if the 'added' cost due to the packaging and freebies is worth it.  Some would still opt for the more prestigious release, while others will just make use of the 'saved' money to add other titles to their collection.

Long time ago... got it from a friend who brought some over from abroad. I was buying from Astro at Php35 per piece at that time and he offered to sell me about 12 cases, mostly singles and some doubles.

This is the practical route for me.  I am simply after respectable, neat and decent packaging.   There's not much I can do with lousy printing,  but at least none of those wrinkled clear plastic joins in amaray cases.
