« on: Mar 31, 2006 at 09:10 AM »
Since i am still in shock with what I got with the local release of KK, let us talk about your favorite DVD releases locally in R3, and why.

My fave would be xmen2 ...

Its a two disc set
nice packaging
great contents
plus it has tagalog subtitles...(for the kids, that is  :) )

Batman Begins Deluxe Edition

For P550, it mirrors R1 contents, has lenticular cover, 2 discs, and a comic book.

anything that is released by warner.  since the packaging almost echoes the r1 release or even better.
case in point, the batman series,  harry potter's chamber, azkaban and goblet, the lenticular version of the corpse bride, constantine.  heck even older movies come in slipcases.  i.e. purple rain, enter the dragon. etc.

Jackie Chan films.

Who Am I?
Mr Nice Guy

I bought them for just P299 and they look good. Much better than VCD versions. My only complaint, they don't have English subtitles.

For me, The Passion of the Christ because it has Tagalog subtitle. Para ka na rin nagbabasa ng verse sa bible.

The only local R3 I've ever seen with lobby cards

Nice colored songbook

Sturdy slipcase (not so nice)

Amen to that...

For me:

James Clavell's Shogun (Miniseries) Nice plastic slipcase and insert.

The Corpse Bride with it's lentical cover and magnet set (though I missed that one).  OT: Warner seems to have re-released this one in standard amaray case at 499.

and most other Warner two-discs classics like Singin' in the Rain, Amadeus, Yankee Doodle Dandy.  Their packaging are of identical design but way better than most other companies local R3 packaging.  Yes, Philadelphia Story is in that list too.

The only Warner LE that I hate is the Polar Express Snow-globe pack that's way too big, the carton too low-grade,  the snow-globe is of low quality.  Not worth the extra (is it 200 or 300?) cost...  OT na ako...

Memoirs of a Geisha should have been in there, but I hate Magnavision's transparent cases.

I agree with everything techdude said except about Giesha, for a reason, I like Magna's trans cases.  ;D

We have to include mostly all Warner's other Classics, though might not be digipak like Yankee Doodle and Singin' in the Rain, I think Easter Parade SE, The Band Wagon SE, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers SE and Philidelphia Story SE were all very good releases. Own all, love all.

I dont like Polar Express.  :(
