I stand corrected, VIVA it is. Thanks. But with the quality of their packaging lately, maybe it's not a sin to confuse the two.

If we can't or unwilling to teach this people a hard lesson, they'll continue to produce crap and laugh all the way to the bank.

Has anyone here bought the Viva Video Release of The Chronicles of Narnia DVD? I got my copy today and as far as the packaging goes, it was definitely better than the local release of King Kong. Some comments on the packaging though…

1.   The package shows a Slip case, 3 Post cards and something that looks like a booklet. Wala po ba talaga yung mga
yun or I just did not get mine.
2.   The comment beside the picture of the apparent set says: “Contaians Hours of …”
3.   The printing is good and the name Narnia is embossed.

I have not watched the film yet so I cannot say anything about the quality yet.

firewired, is there a way we can confirm that the Philippines is the only country which released Narnia in digipak? i havent seen actual pix of releases from HK, Taiwan and Korea.

I saw the Narnia release in HK airport last week. Problem is... I really don't know how a digipak looks like. (Haven't seen the local release, yet). It was priced at HK$ 169 at the airport.

just got mine from singapore (r3) it's not a digipack but has a slipcase. two discs in amaray case then slipcase with postcards i think.

there were two king kong versions too in hmv, one from singapore (34.99 sgd) and one from hk (priced at 39.99 sgd i think)

Sana ganyan din dito. We can have imported R3 versions of the same title to compete with local distributors on the same shelf space in the same outlet. And not let local distributors lord it over with near monopolistic power for legit R3 titles.

I went to Astro SM Sucat to purchase this copy (sana) and upon scrutiny there was indeed the mispelled words. The girl kaagad told me "Sir R3 yan at 5.1 lang walang DTS". I told her there is DTS printed at the back cover. Sabi nya "If may DTS talaga, dapat may DTS logo". I told her to open the package and check it in their DVD player if indeed what she was telling was true. So eventually binuksan and when I went to the Set-up Menu, the choices were only English 5.1 and Thai I think...walang DTS option. So sorry, didn't buy the DVD at sabi ko R1 nalang bibilhin ko at may DTS.

Both discs are dual layered, and all special features seem intact, except for that DTS. Too bad, there's no slipcase.

During sale at malls. It WAS 299 last weekend at Astrovision The Podium and SM Manila. Chances are it will be again next weekend at SM Megamall... but until then we can't be sure...

I saw it in the P299 area with the ther DVD's.

But I doubt na lalabas sa 'Pinas ang EE... kasi hindi naman malaki ang dinagdag sa movie (mostly extended battle scenes lang yata), not to mention that Viva still have a ~~lot~~ ton of the original Narnia.

Finally got this for 299 at video city sm sucat. Just the right price for the incompetently packaged local release.

Hmmm... if that's the case. I'l just order again the R1 EE copy of Narnia from my relatives in the US, like what I did with the Lord of the Rings EE trilogy.

But remember that the EE R1 is limited time release, DVD production is only until January 30, 2007... So sooner or latter it will be scarce...
