What are your listening impressions with your Bostons?
Hi! I'm neither good in putting my impressions in words nor reviewing audio stuff. Lol! But anyway, I'll try my best.
When I first heard these speakers at Avshop's place, I could tell that they have a lot of potential. Out of the box sounded a bit tight or "pigil", bass didn't seem to extend that much and quite anemic also. But James (Avshop's attendant) and I agreed that these pair is very promising. We let em run for a few hours then we sat down for some serious listening, hoping for a little improvement. And there it was, the improvement that we're looking for. The A26s opened up a little. From what I've read, the A series needed some run in/ break in time or at least 60 hours to really sound well and open up.
I find them very enjoyable to listen, as if it draws you to the kind of music they produce. They sound big, warm and balanced. Vocals is sweet, which I think is the best quality of these speakers. Good enough highs, no signs of being harsh. Bass is defined and extends well too. They're not tiring at all, capable of playing any genre you throw at them, although jazz and vocals are probably the "forte". I can tell that they'll never fail to impress once properly broken in.
Another plus factor here is the price, with the SRP of 16, 500 Php. A cheaper alternative for some well-tested speakers like the B&W 685s, Monitor Audio RX1/BX2, Polk Audio RTI A3, etc. A few bonuses, well-built/designed (quite heavy), magnetic grills, easy to drive and looks good too. Well, what more can you ask for the price, d b? Lol!
Finally, the associated equipment used:
AVshop's Demo Room
Amplifier/s: Marantz PM-Ki Pearl Lite
Marantz PM-6004
Rotel RA-1520 (This one gets my vote)
Sources: Marantz CD-6004, IPod Touch via the CDP's USB port.
Accessories: QED cables, QED Speaker wires, Atacama Nexus 6i (24") stands.
At my place, of course the audio gears I currently own.
Well, that's it. I hope maintindihan naman yung sinulat ko. Haha!
Thanks for dropping by!
