i'm in thailand right now and they just released Memoirs of a Geisha. there's 2 versions - one local and one i think for export or inimport rin yata nila to. i bought it for 399 baht (around 519 pesos). here's some info :

Thanks a lot for the info, been waiting for this one. It comes in a boxset? I hope uto na yung hinihintay ko at ni sir RNIverson.

Hmm...If it does, I may have an excuse not to buy the "Premium" Japanese version

yung box, it's just a modified slipcase (you can open it on both sides) to accomodate the photobook.

Love it. I'm assuming that the cover is the same as the R1, or the black one, right? Anyway you can import it here?

for the price, that one is a good buy. the japan release includes an OST ata.

It is pretty cheap, I mean here, I bet a single disc release will be P750 or P895. This is already a 2 disc with a cool photo album. Nice packaging too.

mura nga eh. there's this store that sells marked down prices on most of the dvd's. pababaan sila ng prices sa mga original R3's. nga pala. yung mga "imported" R3 dvd's nila dito eh yung mga galing hongkong yata. they are just repackaged or distributed by a local thai company. other stores also sell R1 dvd's.. mejo mahal nga lang ang price. Like Star Wars III (revenge of the sith) - R1. priced at 1180 baht.. it's around 1530+ pesos

Wow.

That's a big diffrence! Giesha R3 is a much newer film and it is only P519 there!! Star Wars is much older and is SO expenive!!

the korean LE has a film cut/senitype. you may want to consider it since it's available online.

Hopefully malapit na, any other news on the exclusive korean LE? I have a feeling I'm gonna double-dip on this one. Gusto ko yung cover nung Korean version. Anyway, is there any news about a local release?

Apparently, the Taiwan, HK and Thailand releases are the same. Hopefully, hindi ilalabas 'to sa atin, else, I'll kick myself. By the way, the Thai version is available for $18 (Shipping included) at www.ethaicd.com , but I don't know if this is a reliable retailer. Besides, for six bucks more, I can get free shipping from yesasia!

ei dorian... wala na yung may red box. out of stock na agad. yun na lang thai version na 2disc ang meron. if you want to save around 100baht or more per dvd.. try mo pumunta sa chinatown. meron din dun nung 12 disc lotr released by mangpong. 1155baht ang price nung nakita ko kahapon

Saan yung Chinatown? Malapit ba sa isang BTS Station? Grabe mura naman.

In fairness, medyo mura din ang DVD sa isang shoppe sa Siam Paragon.

mejo malayo sya from any bts station eh. malapit sya sa central train station (old railway building). punta ka sa mbk mall. mas mura dun compared sa paragon. sa 3rd floor may 2 dvd stores - mangpong (yung may scorpion logo) and katabing katabi nya yung look maew.

sa 4th floor there are 3 stores. sa gitna yung I27 data yata. makikita mo sa hara mga pc games. pasok ka sa loob may mga R1 and R3 dvd's. sa dulong dulo sa right side andun yung boomerang dvd store. meron din silang R1 dvd's (mahal yung mga superbit na R3) then sa sa may leftmost side ng mbk naman nandun yung isang cd/dvd store. malapit sya sa mga cellphone stalls. iba iba ang price nila. merong dvd na mas mababa ang price compared sa kabilang store.. so ikot ka muna before ka bumili.

To add to that: The local 2-Disc Widescreen release (Php 795 if you pre-book) includes a Red Slipcase and a Picture Booklet, as well.

i dont think this release would be picked up by the collectors... it has a high price tag. i, for one, wont. would settle for the japanese and the korean release.

I was in Rockwell this morning and saw an add for this in the record store, relased on May 26 2006 by Magnavision; retail price will be around P895.00 only! If you pre-book, it's P100.00 off.
