Hi, a friend of mine is selling a brand new Pioneer DV355 for around P8,600.  Is that a good buy?  I know its a good price for a Pioneer DVD player, but has anyone here used this unit before, and how is its performance?  I've searched the web for reviews but there aren't many since its pretty much a newly released unit.

Conveniences
• New Advanced GUI (Graphical User Interface)

I bought the same model three months ago, so far I never encountered any problem with it. I was able to play R1 and R3 disk with some disk already with lots of scratches. Still it played. You got the value of your money.

Does your friend offer warranty on this?

FYI, this is sold at around P8,900.00 on appliance stores which has 1 year warranty.

OK ang Pioneer sa branded DVD players.  It sometimes reads discs which can't be read by my SAST... ;D

hi there!

If u hav a citibank cc, you can avail of the special promo happenin now at sm appliance and other participating shops. I bought mine today, in paylite mode of payment, so this is defered for 6 months, i will pay 1600 per month upto 6 month. So if you add the 1600 x 6 = 9600 minus the units cash base price 8790 so 810 is the interest for 6 months! not bad and kasali kapa sa beetle promo nila. :)

Pioneer DV 355 or Yamaha DVD S520 ?
Hi Guys! I have encountered the yamaha dvd player which will look great if matched with a yamaha a/vr  which i'm planning to buy within a few days.

Anyone who have encountered this dvd player from yamaha?  Won't it have a problem reading DVDs unlike Pioneer?  ???

Thanks to those who would comment on this one.   :-\

inox,

i auditioned the Yammy S520 at the D' Cinema in festival mall.. i also auditioned the Pioneer 355....they are at the same price range. I bought the Pioneer..mas reliable kasi eh..and isa pa the yammy is china made though yung parts nya is Japan..

Isa pang ayaw ko sa yammy is ang pangit nang display nya dun sa harap nang DVD player..pati yung menu hindi rin maganda...

I have a Yammy RXV520 avr and oks na oks ang Pioneer 355 sa kanya..i replaced my Sony DVP-S345 with the pioneer..

Sayang! Late ko na nakita yung mga replies.  I got mine at 8,600 from my friend.  Should have asked for an additional discount or bought it from Anson's.  :-\

But I was testing it last night and it works great! Basic player lang but it had no problem playing all my VCDs and DVDs.  Haven't tested its multi-region functionality yet though... has anyone tested that?

Okey, Kindly post your result to this thread after testing The Patriot. Although I'm pretty much satisfied with this model I dont have any feedback if it's RCE free too. Basically, majority of pioneer dvds can play RCE disk but I still dont have any confirmation if this particular model can also play RCE. Since this is just a new model. Just in case it cannot play The Pariot dvd, try to insert and play any R1 disk first for awhile then try it again. Thanks in advance!

You can try to unlock your unit with the local service center of Pioneer. I think the charge for such is around 500 pesos.
