why is it locked to region 3? I am going to get one also but how do i avoid getting one that is locked to REG 3?

try getting from ambassador or listening room as they normally sell unlocked units.
got mine there 2 months ago before i sold it when i upgraded to the philips 765.

Di ko pa na tetesting eh...di ko pa mahagilap yung prend ko..lagi kasing nasa manila..ill post as soon as i tested the title. Ano pa bang titles ang may RCE?

Nakausap ko na si Mike yung nag u-unlock ng Pioneer, P700 daw ang bayad, bali P500 sa unlock and P200 sa service fee within Metro Manila lang daw.

Actually, meron separate topic about RCE sa DVD Discussion. pero since in this thread specific ang concerned DVD model natin and based on the info that I got from the other thread alam confirmation regarding this specific model kung RCE free din. Try to look into the
http://www.dvdtalk.com/rce.html Nadun ang complete list of titles na may RCE and the confirmed DVD player that can play RCE. according to the site not all region free DVD player is RCE free too. puwedeng region free eto pero pag RCE hindi na daw. That's the reason why I wanted to get a confirmed feedback from anybody. I simply don't have a contact here that has a RCE disk kasi kaya I cannot try it.

This player is on sale sa Abensons Festivall mall for only 7,990 old price was 8,790.00

kakainis hindi ako nakapag intay..another thing the pioneer 533 is only 9,990 old price is 12K

Tnx Courage for the info......just dropby and chked the recent pricing...yes its 7990 at all abensons, i saw it at galleria....soon it will be mine (355).....

side Q naman-

1) what would i have if i connect the L & R Audio-Out of the 355 to ( Aux input) my existing 5 spkr JVC Midi component w/c only has dolby prologic DSP... would i get at least the sound ambience of a 2 front 1 center 2 rear spkr set-up......(tipong magsasagutan rin ba un spkrs ko)

Yup..actually im choosing between Pioneer 355, Samsung 128K and samsung 326k ata yun..forgot the model eh hindi ko na audition yung 326 naaudition ko lang eh yung 128 at 355... maganda pareho video quality and audio quality i choose pioneer dahil mas subok na ito based on the reviews of other members though meron akong pirated na audio CD's na ayaw mag play sa pioneer ko pero nag paplay naman sa dati kong sony dvd player

, wala pa kasi ako nababasang review about the samsung 128 eh...pero featurewise lamang na lamang Samsung...

Pero both are good buys...its up to u na lang kung alin ang mas gusto mo...

Spiderman, Charlie's Angels, Fox DVD Demo Disc #2. Un pa lang nasusubukan ko. All other R1 DVDs na walang RCE can be played

Kelan mo nabili yung player mo? Kasi dalawang version ang nakita kong DV355, yung isa made in malaysia yung isa eh made in china.

Nung dinala ko ang player ko at spectra, nung ipinatong ni jim sa DV355 din eh mas malinaw yung sulat sa unahan nang DVD player ko, mine is the one that is made in malaysia, yung nasa spectra ang made in china, medyo light ang pagka print nang mga nakasulat sa unahan nung nasa spectra

I bought my DV-355 Las Feb, sa Power Plant, Rockwell. I'll check kung China made ung player ko.

BTW, there's a new player fr Pioneer, DV-266. It's on sale sa Festival, Alabang, sa tapat ng Shakey's. It's Progressive Scan and cost about P6,700 ++. Not sure abt the price pero ndi aabot ng P6,800. Sobra mura nga eh!!!

Finally got rid of my DV-355. Ibinalik ko sa binilhan ko, it will take two to three weeks to modify it. Kakainis nga eh, so I sold it na lang. I bought the DV-266-S with prog scan for P6,790 at Automatic Ctr sa Ayala. Multi-region sya and can play RCE discs. Not sure about the quality of the prog scan though, la pa ksi akong prog scan capable TV

BTW, I called Pioneer, they mentioned some Mike Hernandez. He's the one modifying DVD players daw. Same thing with Blims sa Glorietta, si Mike Hernandez daw nagmo-modify ng mga players nila or pag may customer na gusto magpa-modify, sya ang nire-refer.

Sa mga gustong magpa-modify ng players nila , ask the sales people in Blims Glorietta or call Pioneer.

No analog 5.1 outs.

Just Stereo RCA
Optical Digital Out &
Coaxial Digital Outs.

Thanks Philander. The 355 player says it has a 192/24 DAC. How can you benefit from that if it only has stereo analog output? Taking the digital route I believe bypasses the DAC.

You're right. Well the 192khz/24-bit DAC is for the 2 (stereo) analog channels only. If you use its digital outs, basically, DAC of the Receivers will do the converting process, so if you have a receiver with 96khz/24-bit DAC, you wont be able to benefit the 192khz/24-bit feature of the player.

Sayang yung 192/24 DAC of this model. Hindi mapapakinabangan sa HT where it was designed to be used. Kahit DVD-audio multichannel DD/DTS, hinti magagamit. Except in stereo mode.
