What a shame Onkyo cuts down the specs at the 1007 > 1008 transition. Other than the HDMI 1.4 & 3D compatibility, there is no longer Ultra2 Plus Certified and just the more basic Audyssey MultEQ (not the XT version).  :-[

Hopefully 1007 will go down in price & I'll get it. ;D

call oliver pe again it might have gone down from how much we were supposed to get it before ;D

Yes, I will certainly call him. I still have the quote he gave me. Will wait for the right time or at least after the 1008 is launched. :)

i have been lurking in the avsforum lately and have found a lot of good reads there about audyssey dsx and onkyo htrc180/nr807. there is a thread discussing the 708, 808, 1008 and it seems most of the people posting are not impressed, they felt the older models have superior features. more like of a downgrade they say for the new lines.

One downgrade I noticed is that they dropped the Audyssey suite from the TX-SR308. The previous model TX-SR307 had Audyssey 2EQ, Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. The current 308 has none of these.

Curiously, the receiver bundled with the Onkyo HTiB HT-S3300 is very similar to the 308, but has the Audyssey suite! What a weird thing to bundle a better receiver with an HTiB compared with a stand alone receiver.  ???

Eh some body in Onkyo should get a hammer for coming up with such strategy....other brands are upgrading its series at similar price range (and lower in some cases) while Onkyo is the other way round... ???  :-\

HTRC180, NR807 and NR1007 would still be the best option i would say taking into consideration features and price for the newer model for the older one, IMO nothing beats the 875.

Korek ka dito brader. Never been happier in my "HT life" until I acquire my 875. Lahat ng hanap ko sa AVR dito ko lang nakita sa 875. Dialogs are so neat & clean ramdam ko din yong malalim na buga ng 10 incher velo subs ko. Ganda brader Tirso!  Syempre, I had it documented from "unboxing to set-up para me papakita rin ako pag meron na ako sa HT gallery.  ;D

Sir, sorry for the newbie question, is the price difference of 608 from 508 worth it? I am just about to build my first simple HT setup..i am looking for a receiver which is hopefully below 25k. But looking at the user reviews here and sa amazon, I am thinking of stretching my budget. Sulit po ba?

in my opinion NO. mukhang yung video upscaling lang naman ang pagkakaiba

The THX certification is just a badge in my opinion, Im using a higher model na THX ceritifed din pero wala din namang effect sa listening pelasure ko, or baka di lang ako marunong mag set.

Is there a big difference between the Onkyo TX-NR3007 and the Onkyo TX-NR807 ? Price difference is quite big. (I currently own a Onkyo TX-SR706).

Thanks !  :)

id dont think there is much difference from 875 to 876

from my experience, maganda din sa stereo mode ang Onkyo especially the mid level units(875 is midlevel i believe) maganda yung pure audio at direct setting nila. in my case im using Onkyo HT RC180 very much similar to Onkyo NR 807. It sounds better compared to 6 series in 2 channel listening mode. Compared to my NAD 325BEE before, i like the HTRC180 better thats why i sold my NAD

But compared to my baby g, a DIY from brader jojod818, the baby g sound way better.

Talagang maganda ang Onkyo 875 sa stereo mode, pure audio & direct pero hindi ko madalas ginagamit. In my case kasi, i use stereo mode (audiophile music)  to induce sleep eh sa bilis mag-init ng 875 baka pag-gising ko nasusunog na bahay.  ;D I still prefer stereo receiver (HK 3390) for my music listening. IMO, HK stereo receivers are hard to beat! ;D

Boss newbie lang din po ako. I choose 508 kasi base din po sa needs ko. I don't need video upscaling features kasi for NMT and my lappy CQ40 HDMI naman w/c is pwede na even video repeater lang like 508. And I think the price difference between 608 and 508 is more or less 10K w/c is dagdagan ko nalang ng konti makakabili nako ng PS3...hehehe ;D

I am a proud owner of an Onkyo 608 and I am satisfied with what I paid for. But as ShogdGreat said it depends upon your need and budget. The 508 is really an upgrade to the previous 507 with its added features. I also chose between the 508 and the 608 when I was upgrading. Maybe it was really because of wanting to purchase a 607 before the new products went out that when I decided and saw that the difference of the 607 and the 608 is very minimal I got the 608 na.

I suggest if you have the budget at 31k then go for the 608 and its other features, for a THX certified reciever this is very cheap and you will have options you dont if you use the 508. If not and you decide to use the price difference for you to buy a set of very good speakers to go with your 508 then that is also great. This means you can balance your budget on a good reciever and a good set of speakers and sub.

Once you decide, always think that you purchased the best para IWAS SARS hehe. Kung pwede nga once nabili mo na gusto mo iwasan mo na magbasa ng threads and enjoy what you have purchased.

IMHO, either way you can go wrong...
