thanks for the greeting wacksy,

Musta yung sayo? Iam still using default setting kasi hindi pa final yung area na pagagamitan.

I paired the avr with sattelites though, infinity for now. Looking for wharfs sana, question ok ba yung 8.3? floor standers. Being paired with wh2 package.

Sorry for the late reply as I was out of town. I am fairly new also in this as i just started my system last march. Haven't tried the 8 series but according to reviews it's good. Used my 608 before with 9.3s which is like the 8.3s in a 5.1 setup and had no problem. My setup now is 9.5 for fronts, 9cs for center, 9.1s for surrounds and 10dfs for back surrounds. Rounding it off with my velo impact 12 for my sub. This was the setup that left me satisfied ( for now hehe) so i don't think you will go wrong with the 8.3s. Just make sure you pair the speakers with the same brand for center and surround coz IMHO that is more important.

yups that the reason why i bought na already the 10dfs kasi hirap na maghanap ng stock ng 9dfs... ok na yung set up mo. you can either wait na may magbenta ng used the 9dfs and use muna yung 3.1 set up mo. or you can complete it na with the 10dfs mura lang din naman siya. value for money talaga mga wharfes...

@wacksy1021 How is your 608 when it comes to music listening? Plan to pair it muna with wharf 9.1 at first. Thanks...

Wacksy,

Thanks for the advice, yep ok sa price ang wharfs, the others kasi medyo mataas na like b&w and paradigm, went around manila na to canvass stocks, sayang nga yung isang seller na nagbenta ng 9cs and9dfs, naunahan tayo hehehe.

One thing lang i heard from oliver ng listen up, he told me to remove speaker covers of 8.3, dahil tumatama daw yung woofers pag umaandar speakers due to the design. Do you use it nakabukas.

Ohter than that ganda daw talaga diamond series

if you can still afford to get the wharf Pi 10 and Pi center, its sounds way better than the diamond 9 or even 10 series at least based on my own experience, i used to own both and when i had the chance to get a Pi 10 i diposed the 9.5.

i sold my Pi 10 and Pi center for around 12.5K if im not mistaken

Ok lang naman to pair it first with the 9.1 sir kasi eventually when you decide to purchase floor standers you can still use them for either side surrounds (which is what i use) or back surrounds (though i prefer the smoother sounds of the DFS.

main usage ko kasi talaga pare is HT and gaming. But when ever i use it for my cd playing or Ipod ok naman ang tunog niya sa akin... though i must admit I am not an audiophile to know the difference but even when i play soft music or loud stuff it still keeps me entertained which for me is the more important part.

good luck sir sa pag setup..

i know this thread is for AV receivers. just need some help with my Onkyo integrated amp which has an issue. (The input selector switch (dial) wants to do it's own switching. this happens any time the power is on; or what the dial is switched to. example: phono; tuner; CD or tape.) does this also happens to Onkyo AVRs? Does anyone know where i could have it serviced and how much will it cost me, or if its worth fixing? thanks.

I just know that the Philippine distributor for Onkyo is Toyama thats were i bought my 608 they have an office in west avenue malapit lang sa stackbucks west ave. maybe you can try to call them for this.

hi,

congrats to all onkyo owners, onkyo naman ok, ang advice sakin receivers should be paired with dynamic speakers para ok, important satisfied kayo  sa bili and decision.

Ang diff sa 508, medyo madami. upscaling, 7.2, 175w @ 6 ohms, gui, 6hdmi.
I was supposed to get the 508 din, but when i did comparison streched budget to 608.

Consumption yes, 650w. medyo malakas depends on speakers

hope that helped ;D

to the 608 users, have you experienced the screen going blank/black and quickly coming back on while watching a movie? there's a clicking sound from the 608 as it goes black as if the tv turns off for a split-second.

I experienced this w/ other avr's but quickly resolved when I changed the hdmi cable. Try replacing the cable, it might be the culprit. HTH.  ;D

I have been reading this thread and it is the main reason why i bought an onkyo 508. However, after enjoying everything for two days and when I linked up my front surrounds last night, the amp suddenly turns off and the red led blinks. the manual says, unplug it and redo all the wirings. I did just that but still after a few minutes of playing, the amp turns off.

What have I been doing wrong? Asar naman. Please help anyone.

IMHO, unless you can sell your 607 at a very god price to get the 608 i think the upgrade is not that much compared to lets say you have been using a 307 or 507 before and upgraded to the 608.

Beware my fellow PDVD brothers and sisters. I hope you do not get an onkyo 508 lemon unit like i did. Was able to enjoy it for 3 days then last night it started shutting off on its own for a few minutes of use. Finally, today it was totally silent. No sound coming out of it. Totally nada.

I hope the dealer does some influence over the supplier and do an outright replacement of the unit. Will not divulge its identity first. I will allow the dealer to work on it muna.

Please also ensure that your dealer can give a 7 day replacement policy for a lemon unit should you get one.
