aside from the front printed badges, what's the difference between the RC-180 and the 807?

US$200 more expensive ang 807 kesa 180.

rc180 vs 807
# One less HDMI in
# 110W/channel vs. 135W/channel
# One more S-Video out
# No direct Sirius support (although the product page has the "Sirius Ready" icon)
# No RS-232 or IR input

for me, worth ang $200 savings ng RC180. but having an extra 25w/ch is also good w/ the 807. i don't need the rest of the extra features of the 807.

My AVR is an omni 1500 Watt Servo Motor Control.  Am running a Onkyo 707, Wharfdale 5.1, (Mirrage Omnis10 Sub), Panny 50c10, PS3 and DVD player.  Connected to the AVR are two "Panther voltage surge protector with line filter".  All companents are plugged in to these line filters.  Is this set up OK or are my components at risk?  Am I  missing something?

estimates:

onkyo 707      = 600 watts
panasonic c10 = 250 watts
ps3               = 200 watts
mirage sub      = 150-200 watts

total would be 1250 which is still below 1500 watts of your omnis. read a lot that typically, it would be safer if the components plugged is not more than 70% of the voltage regulator's rated power so that it has enough head room to operate. so 70% of 1500 would be 1050 watts.

if its possible it would be better to get a 1000 watter just for the onkyo, and have all else plugged in on the 1500 watter.

Mga Sirs Question lang po regarding sa Audessey Calibaration.

I am using the following for my System:

1. Onkyo TX-SR507
2. Wharfedale 9.1 and 9CS
3. Polk Audio DSW Pro 500

Upon running the calibaration from the reciever may specific value po ba na dapat ma reach i.e. all speaker values should be near the 0dB level?

First time ko kasi mag set up using the Audessey and I noticed the parang humina yung system after calibration.

Thanks for your feedbacks.

How loud did/do you set your receiver volume before/after running Audyssey?

You mean -45db? Oks lang yan bro. Audyssey tries to harmonize all of your speakers para balanced sila. I usually listen to around -15db to -30db level. There are a lot of factors to consider like amp power, speaker efficiency, media files, room size and etc. Kaya iba iba yung volume adjustments ng different systems. Ang importante is, gumanda yung tunog after audyssey even if you have to raise the volume a bit higher.

Any HT 260 users here? I heard its almost similar to 608 minus the THX and pc input but cheaper by $100. Is the THX feature really important?

Nope, not in my book.  You have to be THX certified all the way.  Even the room.

THX is a certification process meant to standardize the listening experience so that theater goers will experience the same thing in any THX certified theater anywhere on earth.  But for the home, its benefits can be lost as different room accoustics will make even the same set of gears sound differently.  It's a minimum standard at best and there are gears that are not THX certified that are better sounding than those that are.

But doesn't the THX allow you to matrix 5.1 into 7.1 on your Blu-rays?

THX is not a technology, but a set of certification standards.

Hope someone could help identify the possible problem in this scenario:

Setup:
Onkyo 608
HDPro through HDMI
42PV80
Acer H5260
Monoprice HDMI splitter
Sky Cable digibox through composite

Am using the splitter so I don't have to switch cables everytime I change displays from the Plasma and the projector.  However, I notice that I sometimes have to remove and replace the HDMI cable on the back of the AVR before the light of the splitter turns on.  Also, I don't get a signal from the splitter when its set to Cable.  Sound comes out of the AVR but video is not outputted to the splitter.

When the good people from SGT home theater installed the set, they were able to have the video pass through the splitter and output on both screens.

Any ideas on what I should do?  Haven't had too much time to tinker with things yet but I'll post more info once I've tried a few other things.

i dont think meron brader waxx, 875 is the older model and 876 is the newer one, both are monsters and can cream easily the latest models, yung 876 yata naka wolfson dac tapos na hqv reon video upscaler thx ultra2 certified

yung 3d ng onkyo now 708, 808, 1008, the only thing it can boats about is the 3d and the network capability in fact according to some articles i read in some forums, the 08 series practically downgraded features compared to the 07 series

may lalabas yat na 5008 or meron na nga?

Brader better to get Onkyo 508 if you can stretch your budget a little, nasa 23K nalang nowadays. I got mine from SnS last month and Im enjoying with it. Wharf 10.5 requires more power kaya better to get higher power receiver.

Beginner din ako kaya I start mine with Onkyo 508, wharf 9.1 and omni s10 sub. By next year, plan ko bumili ng center (9CS) and fronts (9.5 or 9.6). 9.1 will be my rears then. IMHO mas importante ang sub kesa rears you can feel the rumble and shaking, w/o sub di mo masyado feel ang HT.... ;D ;D ;D
