please look at your receivers setting as well, your hdmi input should also be set to output both video and audio or else no sound will come out.

btw, dont use spdif, as this pertains to using either coax or optical digital for audio.

thanks...

seems like i have a different problem...i tried using the tuner, bass speaker works but sattelite speakers don't :(

I need some help on my Onkyo 606, bakit kaya naka grayed-out yung level calibration under speaker set-up? I'm using my HTPC & audio/video thru HDMI. Audyssey ON.

ano naging problem paps?

thanks

Here's the link to download the Onkyo 608 manual. If you can't seem to access it go to Onkyo USA website then click at support you will see manuals and choose receiver and choose 608

After the audyssey calibration on my Onkyo 608 i was not satisfied with its audio resolution on movies. It seemed that the sound is muffled, although the punch is obvious. Having been acquainted so much with the Pioneer, I am missing the crisp rendition of the gunshots and vehicle crashes on action movies. Until this time I am still trying to figure out the best sound that suits my taste from the Onkyo.

The audyssey calibration brought me these measurement values:

SW ------ yes
Front ---- 150hz
Surround - 120hz
Center--- 60hz
FH ------ 150hz
SB ------ 150hz
SBC ----- 2 channel

Last night before i signed off, except the center, I manually set the F,S,FH and SB into 80hz. I still dont know the effect of my manual assigning of values on the quality of the sound. So can somebody clarify this please. The THX measurement is 80hz in all channel i think, so I just followed that.

Later tonight, I also intend to set manually the speakers on 0.0d db just to feel it.

Insights are welcome... ;D

What speakers are you using? Just set all your speakers to the 80hz THX recommended setting and then add +3 or 4 db to the center speaker and subwoofer (depending on your taste).

Bro Conan i am using DIY AA speakers. I have used these speakers to my Pioneer 811s receiver.

If i manually reset the individual speaker level, will this bypass the auto filtering of the audyssey? thanks

Sometimes Audyssey doesn't get things right and you have to tweak the settings to your preference. I always add to the center and sub after Audyssey sets it. I also use the 80hz THX setting when watching movies.
