What do u mean by that sir? You mean in the laptop settings? or the Receiver?

I have a suspect na, probably my generic HDMI cable is too long, or my NVIDIA card is having a hard time sending a good HDMI Audio/Video Signal.

I think the problem is with your HDMI cable sir. Try using a different one. ;D

im using a cdr king hdmi cable, 1.5m, connecting the laptop n my receiver, another cdr king hdmi cable from receiver's output to my plasma tv.
im using a vlc player to play mkv movies.

when i play an mkv file from the laptop, walang audio na lumalabas sa speakers ng receiver...
video lang ang lumalabas sa tv.

to correct this... i have two ways:
1. while playing a movie, remove the hdmi cable from the laptop n re-insert the hdmi to the laptop. the audio will be channeled to the speakers of the avr.
2. if i am using input hdmi 1 for my laptop, using the remote of 608, i will choose another hdmi input and enter it. i will then choose hdmi 1 again so that it will activate my laptop again as my input source, the audio from my receiver's speakers will be heard again.

so far corrective measure lang to. hnde n ako nagexplore how to prevent it kasi i plan to buy an nmt.

its very possible na may problem ang hdmi cable maybe you can try to exchange your other hdmi cable so that you can see if the cable is the real prob or try to directly connect your pc to your tv.

Na-eexperience ko sa 608 yung audio drop out pero sa simula lang.
kasi gamit ko laptop as my player... lumalabas yung audio sa laptop hindi sa receiver.
ang correction lang na ginagawa ko is either I choose another hdmi input using the controls, then return to my original input or manually reconnecting the hdmi port on my laptop. ok na afterwards.

but for video signal loss or handshake issues... so far, wala naman...
typical handshake issue due to OS reverting back to non digital output.  nangyayari lang ito kung hindi permanent ang hdmi mo as output for audio.  since youre using a laptop, im assuming that you remove the hdmi connection every now and then.  :)

Nagsimula ko nang mapansin yung A/V sync issue that is being discussed here just after reading the comments here.  ::)

bakit ganun?

I did some testing recently. I just moved my hdmi cable input to another input (in my tv). It's ok na ;D. That's weird ;D. Try doing that. But I've been viewing mostly bd recently. I have to try downloads, maybe that is the culprit

That is a common HDMI problem, and you just have to unplug/plug the cable.

It depends on the subwoofer. Pero, for most subwoofers, yes...12 o'clock is a good starting point. ;D

Yes...co'z after you get the results, the desired decibel level for the subwoofer should be 0 dB level. So, if ang result is + dB level, you have to lower the gain and pag - dB level, you have to increase the gain. Everytime you change the gain, you will have to run Audessey all over again until you get the result of 0 dB level or close to it. :)

matagal tagal palang calibration pala yun master.akala ko pagset mo ng 12 o'clock ok na yun hindi na kailangan baguhin. :D .After doing the steps master then nag 0db na receiver ok na adjust sa AVR yun?

Yes! Save settings ka na once you've achieve 0 dB level. The best part I enjoy about our hobby is actually the process of getting the best sound out of your system. That is why calibration for me is fun.;D

wala ka naman gain knob sa satellites, i suggest that you leave it as it is.  BUT you can always adjust it to your preference.   ;)

I read reviews that the 8xx series or higher models of the Onkyo has a high wattage selection. It's really nice if the amplifier is powerful, because the dialouges are fuller, bolder and clearer...plus the overall soun staging is pretty awesome. :)

There are no issues with using SVS speakers with the Onkyo, as they are neutral sounding speakers. ;D

I believe there is one in the market place for 32k. I'm not sure kung sold na. No problem with this Onkyo model in driving the svs speakers, yakang-yaka, ako nga gamit ko 608 lang, really satisfied with the performance of this receiver. maganda pa sa 806, mult-eq sya unlike yung 608 ko 2EQ lang

PM kagawad iiinas for insights on actual listening experience, he owns one

para sa akin

1. 806 has better face plate lay out and appearance mas musculine tingnan compared to newer model
2. Higher power rating but doesnt have newer features like Audyssey DSX. Has DTS MA and Dolby Ture HD though.
3. Ultra 2 THX certification versus Select2 of some newer models
4. Mult EQ capable only
5. Biggest downside- mas mahal pa kesa sa mga bagong modelo, recently otep sold one fro around 35K used unit at 110volts, price sa AMazon di bumababa sa 800usd from the last time i checked but the 807 is around 600 plus lang

I know that this isn't an AVR, but I'd like to say that I'm impressed with the Onkyo A-5VL Integrated Amplifier. It's an awesome little amp for the price that's both sonically refined and environmentally sound. :)

The matching C-S5VL SACD Player is also quite good, by the way.

Probably not that important, but is the front panel display of the 806 green color? It seems like an old Sony Betamax Player to me...  ;D

mas warm and smooth ba talaga ang digital coax input ng Onkyo 608 compare sa spdif and hdmi input nya? noticeable ang difference nila, hindi ko lang sure kung dahil sa input ng onkyo yun or sa output ng  mede8er 300x.  ???

Ang alam ko sir all speaker channel ay may DAC naman, so i guess wala yun sa coax, hdmi output, etc. Please correct me If I'm wrong. Using the same source, parehas lang siguro ang labas nang sound, just use exactly the same setting, or better yet try it sa pure audio mode...

to some people, walang bearing ang cables and parepareho lang, sa aking personal na experience, mas makapal ang tunog kapag naka coaxial versus optical or HDMI. But becasue of the hassle, i only use HDMI straight for NMT even if it has coaxial, wiht my dvd, i use coaxial for audio and hdmi for video.
