Somewhat across from the big Burger King on Timog.

Thanks brader conan, malapit lapit lang din pala from office:)

Guys, good am.

Medyo nagiinit talaga sya kahit may built in exhaust fan ang onkyo avr, that is why important yung ventilation around your avr.

hindi sir. i've been using the Aux In line bago ko pa i-bi-amp yung connection sa speaker wala naman problem dati. ever since lang ginamit ko yung bi-amp dun nagkaproblema.
err, baka po naka set yung front speakers nyo as large speakers? naka bi-amp din kasi yung 508 ko eh and pag naka set lang sa large speakers nagka ganyan ang onkyo ko..pero pwede rin naman set sya sa bi-amp just lower the level po set nyo lang ng " zero " yung cal level.HTH ;)

Hi Gurus,

Tried plugging my midi player for videoke with HT-R670 (HT-S6200) but the sound quality from the mic input is very low. Can you suggest what I will add e.g. mixer or preamp that have echo level? Needed to put 2 mics and the midi player before plugging it to the AVR. Will only used vidoeke for 2 hours a week.

Thanks,
JM

thanks for the input sir. actually hindi pala yung aux in yung problem kundi yung 3.5mm cable pala yung sira. tried changing the cable and ok na ngayon. :D

bro IIRC sa dating 508 ko, mas mataas ang power consumption nya sa pure audio vs. movies.  :)

question lang po about the fan, would an exhaust fan be better than a fan which has the air going into the receiver?

thanks.

Have you tried using line-level connections (RCAs)? Kung available lang naman.

These units are designed to suck air from the bottom of the unit and exhaust through the top by building a convection current. It's usually easier to just aid this natural flow by putting an exhaust fan on top (better kung may shroud). Blowing air into the case from the top can cause undue turbulence (increasing noise), can bring more dust into the chassis, and might cause insufficient flow to some critical parts.

A laptop cooling pad with the fan blowing in reverse sounds like a simple solution. :D

iirc infinity speakers are bright, paired with a bright receiver, im not sure if it's gonna yield a good result.
you can PM stickfighter to confirm if infinity is bright or warm.  :)

Onkyo 508 may be slightly "brighter" than its Denon counterpart but not considered bright compared to other brands of receivers. It's best to listen to this combo first if it suits your ears. AVShop has both receiver and speaker on hand to demo.

Are these features (present on the 709) enough to choose a 709 over a 609?

110w vs 100w power
certified 4ohms performance
Bi-amp capability for front
Pure mode processing
Phono input
HDMI I/O 8/1 vs 6/1
RS-232
IR Input
12V trigger
Learning remote
Activity Based remote
Auto Speaker Calibration W/Mic.       Audyssey MultEQ XT (709) vs Audyssey 2EQ (609)

@conan: yes sir... please help

Menu
 7. Harware Setup
   - HDMI
     - HDMI Control - Set to Yes
     - Power Control - Yes
     - TV Control - Yes

Now when you turn the receiver off, the yellow "HDMI Thru" light should be illuminated instead of the red - power off indicator. Warning though, when I did this before, the amp would become warm when in HDMI Passthru mode.
