need advice/help guys. We are currently on the final stages of our Home theater system building in our house. The problem is that I recently talked with the one incharge of setting up and he told me the he placed a TXSR-608 with a 7.1 BOSE speaker system for the AV room and 2 BOSE speaker system for the other rooms. This receiver was for all the speakers that we placed for other parts of the house like in the living room, dining room, etc. And he said that he would make it ipod ready by placing a 3.5mm jack. Checked the Onkyo website and found out that this model is not network/internet ready (don't know the proper term).

Anyways, I opting to change this receiver to ones which are network ready so that i could use my ipod as a remote or stream movies/music to it with out any cables. Should i stick to this receiver and look for a BDplayer/TV which has a bluetooth capability? The scenario that I want is that if ever I want to change the music while Im in the dining room, I don't have to go back to the av room to change it. I don't have an idea on these stuff since its my first time to setup. What should i choose to replace the receiver? Please help me. Thanks..:)

barring any issues with cost, id suggest you get any of the following.

NR 1008
NR 3008
NR 5008

If the cost of the above is quite high you may get atleast NR 808
SVS PB13 Ultra and SB13 PLus

The speakers are already purchased? I'm not a fan of Bose cube speakers.

@conan,
unfortunately all the speakers were already bought and installed last month before the finishing of the interiors this july.:( They were included in the planning of the house for the wiring and speaker to be hidden/imbeded with the house. I really don't know the exact details, since we basically let the AV specialist on home theater  (according to hearsay) here in Davao to plan for the AV setup of our house. It was only now that I found out that I was going to connect my ipod through 3.5mm jack or tuner setup. Is there some other way to make it wireless like bluetooth perphaps?

Hindi po ako master sir but tanong ko lang yung budget nyo...  ;D
For home theater I think ang magandang partner sa Onkyo are the following:
-Polk Audio RTi series
-Klipsch Reference Mark II series

Sa subwoofer ang one of the best is SVS  :D

How much would your budget be and how big is the room? Please don't waste your receiver's potential with Bose speakers. Polk Audio, PSB, Klipsch, Monitor Audio, etc. would perform much better than Bose.

You can audition bookshelf Polk Audios at MLY Enterprise ( AVShop ) along Kalayaan QC. They're open Sundays too. The RTiA3 is also ok with your Onkyo.

brother courtmaster, maraming binabagayan ang onkyo, can be B&W, monitor audio, polk, infinity, jbl, klipsch, tannoy. i have two suki as of now: watt hifi at makati cinema square and avshop at kalayaan ave. near qc hall.  both are good vendors, enough choice, very good customer assist, pwede tumawad.

brother domesday, i used to live in Davao. medyo limited ang choice natin dyan, there are only 3 shops i know: one is licated at the back of Ateneo, they also have a shop in NCCC and the third is beside the car mags/tire dealer owned by Apiong, malapit sa Harry's tire.  They carry Denon and Onkyo receivers but kind of little behind, on the speakers they carry bose and wharfedale.  If you can sell you bose speakers better, replace them with other brands as mentioned above.  The Manila vendors naman are willing to ship.  The other option is visit SM Davao, they carry marantz, kenwood, yamaha, pioneer and teac receivers; speakers mardaunt short, pioneer and kenwood.

i hope this helps.

talk about a back breaker

i was very excited to finally complete setting up my system in the new house, took me three days to do so, finally got to do some test wihtout running audyssey yet, was very happy with the result, now why the back breaker?

when i turned on my receiver, an ONKYO HT RC180 yesterday morning, it acted up, first time it happenes ina year and a half, it wont turn on and the red light indicating stand by mode just kept blinking, remove the plug then plugged again but same result, then i pushed the power button once then the display panel got activated but quickly died dwon again then i pressed hard again, finally it got activated and I was able to finsih one movie without issues. Then i tried it again this morning, same thing happened.

What could be the issue? Am I seeing the end of my precious receiver? I hope not.
