talk about a back breaker

i was very excited to finally complete setting up my system in the new house, took me three days to do so, finally got to do some test wihtout running audyssey yet, was very happy with the result, now why the back breaker?

when i turned on my receiver, an ONKYO HT RC180 yesterday morning, it acted up, first time it happenes ina year and a half, it wont turn on and the red light indicating stand by mode just kept blinking, remove the plug then plugged again but same result, then i pushed the power button once then the display panel got activated but quickly died dwon again then i pressed hard again, finally it got activated and I was able to finsih one movie without issues. Then i tried it again this morning, same thing happened.

What could be the issue? Am I seeing the end of my precious receiver? I hope not.

Maybe the power button is just acting up sir. I have a Jurassic Onkyo Tx Sr600 that's been with me for 12 years na and still no problem encountered. Built to last at a ang Onkyo ah.  ;D Still it sucks when something like that happens :(

yes sir got to use it for a xouple of times and without issues but acted up starting yesterday.

I would revisit again the connections later and see if i miss any

thanks ;)

Bro,

Try turning it on nang walang naka connect. Remove all cable connections(Speakers, HDMI, RCA's, Optic, Coax etc..). This is just to isolate the problem.. Pag nangyari pa rin then it's your receiver.. Pag hindi nangyari then isa sa mga cables ang defective..

Yup, same suggestion here. Tirso actually text me about this issue earlier today and I suggested the same thing. Disconnect all connections. Just plug the receiver and switch it "on" to see if the delemma still occurs. Process of elimination lang para malaman kung ano talaga ang may problema. :)

i did this, same thing happened, when you turn it on the red light blinks, after about two minutes, it turns on and works flawlessly even at cranked up volume. it pains me as i have never heard my set up sound this good and only after setting it up in our new house. i hope im not seeing the end of my receiver as this one served me well for 1.5 years already

thanks brader courage.

Tirso, there should be a way to reset the receiver. Meron pa nga soft and hard reset. Try mo muna yun.

When I play a Dolby Digital Plus movie bit-streamed from NMT, I hear 3-4 "hard clicks" before my Onkyo can able to play the incoming codec. Is this normal? Files that I have are HD-DVD rips.

Pat do you experience hearing a click (maybe once in a movie) around midway through a movie?

yes sir. it never occurred to my avr. nmt din gamit ko. maybe sa movie file mo yan sir.

my listening mode preset in mono/2ch sources are set to stereo, while the multi channel sources are set to straight decode. so naka stereo pag ka on. when i play a movie in multichannel audio, the clicking sound happens at the very start because dinedecode siguro ng avr yung multi channel codec. everytime i stop or pause the movie playback, it shifts back to stereo, then when i resume play nagckiclick ulit before magappear yung dts/dolby sa avr ...something like that.

maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nag post about the issue ng receiver ko.

yesterday everything worked well already, according to a good friend must be the back up battery na na discharged kaya matagal sya mag on after the blinking.

i hope tuloy tuloy na wala ng pang bili ng bago eh

I'm also having an issue with my HT-RC180: It wont play movies in 9.1. It used to , when I had mainly Sony BS, but now I have mainly FS it wont play 9.1. I was on the phone to Onkyo in New Jersey for over an hour. The CS rep thinks either something has gone kaput inside of the receiver may not be powerful enough to handle 4 FS, 4 BS 1 Cen and 1 SUB. What do you think?

It should work based on specs but those specs maybe over rated. :)

uu boss malapit na. :) Ang ouput ng 609 is 6ohms dba? So dapat mas malaki ung ohms ng speakers or else mahihirapan ung 609 "i-drive" ung speakers. Yung Sony DAV-DZ270k kse 3ohms rated lahat ng speaker nila pati subs (http://www.sonystyle.com.hk/ss/product/av/dav_dz270k_e.jsp). Tama po ba understanding ko?  ???

Yes that's normal. The only way to avoid the heat is to not use pass-through.
