Dapat, kasi yung previous models nila eh oo.

Try mo kaya sa ibang media player using the same file. Kung wala ka, try mo manghiram...

I get resolution error message on my Onkyo 1008 whenever I set the media player (PCH) to a PAL setting that is not supported by my TV - which implies that the Onkyo is correctly passing through the signal that is sent out from the source, but my TV can't display it.

My suggestions:

1.  Try to upgrade the FW of your Onkyo to the latest one.  I did this the 1st time I powered my 1008, and there was in fact an update available (as of May 2011)

2.  Have you tried setting all sources and the Onkyo to 1080p?   I noted that your Plasma is 720p but it should be compatible with 1080p input via HDMI, unless it's a very very very old model.

3.  All your sources (NMT, DVD, etc.) are also set to 720p right now?  I think I've seen transient resolution error when I switch from a 720p source to a 1080p source.  Transient because the error is gone once you hear that characteristic TIK TIK sound of the Onkyo as it recognizes a signal from a source.

1. will update now and see if it will fix the error message.
2. i have tried it on 1080p already and my plasma can take 1080p signal. i have not checked the output of my NMT though, will give it a look.
3. NMT & DVD are set to 720p. yes, the error message is transient only and shows up during start up when no signal is sent to the amp. i have not experienced it when changing from 720p to 1080p.

btw, here's the error message on the display.

updated the firmware and changed the Popcorn output setting to 1080p/60hz (from 1080p/24hz) and NTSC/PAL from (NTSC/PAL 24hz). the resolution error message is gone during start up.

don't know which of the above changes fixed the error, nevertheless the problem was solved :)

thanks sir clondalkin and to the rest who gave their suggestions ;)

The answer is no. As per audyssey website, you should use the same calibration mic that came with the receiver.

Good day fellow Onkyo users

got my 608 yesterday....its hooked up with Samsung 32in UA5000 LED Full HD TV...Sony Ps3 for the source....I have questions

1. Is it me or theres a significant loss of resolution or picture quality when I plug the ps3 to the av as compared to the  straight to the monitor?
2. even if the display in the PS3 says its using Dolby True HD/DTS....its just says PCM in the av's display?

next....is there a professional color calibrator that you can hire to fix your tv's resolution? Im not so happy with the preset picture modes of the samsung

thanks!!

BTW the Onkyo sooooooooooounds awesome!!!

With regard to picture quality, set the Onkyo to "Through" mode though sometimes the receiver will still try to upscale in spite of this. You can turn off the Onkyo's video processing by pressing the VCR button and then the Return button. Press it until you see the message "V.Processor Skip". The quality should now match hooking up the PS3 directly to the TV. But you will lose the on screen menu by doing this.

Sir Conan,
Would this work din kaya with older Onkyo AVRs like the 805?
Pano kaya mag passthrough dito?
Wala kasing option na "Through" sa HDMI seetings nya.

Thanks  :)

and feedbacks or reviews? or suggestions of other AVR?

planning to setup my own HT in my room, room size is around 20sqm. don't have much idea on setting up. and may mga nabasa ako na to step by step lang..para hindi mabigla sa gastos.

any suggestion on brands and stores?

btw, i have a 42ld460 tv in the room. and also wanting to connect my PC to the reciever for gaming and movies. and also kung kaya wireless music playing using ipad. this possible?

About dun sa wireless i think hindi pwede. You need an avr that supports Airplay which the ONKYO receiver doesn't support. Another avr option is ung Denon 1912. You cannot go wrong with either of them. :)

Those two receivers are fairly new so there isn't much feedback yet from end users.
