Notice how really SHORT the 2011 Onkyo AVR cases are?  So what discrete components did they take out or scale down physically inside compared to the previous years' models?

hi sir, nasa how much ung denon? :D and can it support ung wireless?

does Denon 1912 comparable to Onkyo 609 in overall performance?

I think with the same price range, they are equally comparable. Depende nalang if you want the sound of Denon or Onkyo. I've auditioned both and both are very good receivers. One thing i noticed is that with Denon, the bass has more kick into it. Plus din kase ung Airplay ng Denon since i have apple products. :) Hope next line ng mga Onkyo receivers meron narin Airplay.

Pwede yung Onkyo ng wireless but i think you have to but the dongle and i don't know if its available locally. :)

If you give any weight to What Hi-Fi reviews, Onkyo 609 got five stars compared to four stars for Denon 1912:

By the way,

While watching a BD movie, there are times that my screen just goes blank and then back on again, (sound continues though).  Any similar experiences? I have the 609.

Maybe you have an HDMI handshake problem. Unplug the receiver and tv from the electrical outlet for about 5 minutes. Plug them both in and then always turn on the receiver first before turning on the TV.

sir, have you tried directly plugging the xtreamer to the tv to identify if the sync issue is on the xtreamer not the onkyo? if it doesn't happen if you do it that way have you tried adjusting the time alignment settings on your avr?

@trigo:

Question 1: Is it an avi file?
I've noticed that on some of the avi files of tv shows that I got.
However, I have no problems with mkv files.
That's why I seldom get avi versions na and stick with mkv.
Better resolution as well.

Question 2: How are you connected to the AVR? HDMI, Optical or RCA?
Check the different output options available on the Xteamer.
I used to own an Xtreamer and I remember there are HDMI Compatibility settings on the latest firmware.

Hope you could fix it soon.

Have a great weekend guys!

there is also an option when you press SETUP on the remote then choose 4 then 3, it says 4-3 A/V Sync. There is a millisecond adjustment there and the description says "for matching(synchronizing) audio with visual signal".

If it does not work go to 7-3 HDMI, it says Lip Sync, how about trying to enable that?

I've been trying to turn on at the same time both dynamic eq and dolby volume but to no avail. I noticed that dynamic eq gives great surrounds while the dolby volume gives louder dialogues. Is there a way to turn on both?  BTW my avr is a 3008.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Both are turned on in my Onkyo 608, not sure what you have to do in order to get both running though.

hi sir Conan everytime kasi i turn on the dolby volume on audio adjust menu, it turns off the dynamic eq when i check the menu on  source set up - audyssey. And when I do it vice versa its turns off the dolby and turns on the dynamic eq.

Ganun din sa akin 3008, off din yong dynamic volume pag on ko ng dolby volume.

Sir conan walang dolby volume na feature yong 608. I have my ht-rc270 w/c is equivalent model of 708 walang dolby volume, dynamic EQ at dynamic volume lang ang meron.

You are correct, Dynamic volume was what I was referring to instead of Dolby volume.

Sir comet, have you experience any issues with your 3008? Sa akin kasi, it shuts down w/o apparent reason. Gumagamit ako ng AVR at stable naman yong current kasi hindi tumutunog ng AVR as a sign na me power fluctuation. I read from avs forum na maraming issues ang 2010 onkyo models from 708-5008. Worried ako baka bigla na lang masira to, halos hindi ko pa nagagamit.

so far sir di pa nangyari sa akin yun. I read also stories about that and because I too was worried it could happen to my unit, I had my unit attached with fan from sir jojo and had a power amp next to it just to make sure hindi siya overworked. The only issue i had with it was the clicking sound which disappeared when I changed my nmt. I always try to use it maybe 3 to 4 times in a week just to see if something pops up. Nakapag-firmware upgrade na kayo sir Nogie?

Andami kasi nagkaproblema eh, mukhang hardware issue kasi wala pa ako nababasa na naayos thru FW upgrade. Sana hindi masira yong unit natin. Mahal ang shipping pabalik sa US.

ano po ang level nang iyong gain or volume knob sa sub mo? sir suggestion lang, try turning down the gain or volume level of your  subwoofer para maprevent or lessen the distortion, closer to zero plus or minus 3db. Tama bako mga gurus? :)

+1, try to calibrate the sub (with the gain knob at 9-10 o clock) then the result should be closer to 0 or +/- 3 db. then once you listen to it, and you find the sub's output too thin, then you can adjust to as much as +5 db hot.
