Anyone using 809 with 6ull hd tv and a 720p projector connected both on the hdni out? I have to diconnect the hdmi of the tv first everytime I wanna use the pj. I was told that if both display have differnet video it always recognize the higher resolution. Is this true? Anyone experiencing this?

as per user's manual, when Monitor Out is set to Both, output resolution would be fixed to the highest one supported by both devices, and Resolution setting would be fixed to Auto

if you want the receiver to prioritize the max resolution supported by either your tv or projector, set Monitor Out to either Both (Main) or Both (Sub)

do take note that while some some panels or projectors may only have 720p native pixel resolution, that doesn't mean they can't accept 1080p video signal.

I tied that too but unfortunately still not working. I'm pretty sure both hdmi connections are working fine also cos I tied switching the monitor out using my tv whether main or sub connection and it works fine but when I try that on my pj wala It just keep showing in my pj screen 'video processing. Pls wait' and in my onkyo screen it shows 'no signal' but when I disconnect the hdmi goin to the tv the pj works whether connected in the main or sub hdmi.

Have you tried running non-encrypted sources? Like those connected via analogue video inputs to the AVR?

Is there a message on the AVR's display?

Ano actual power rating per channel ng Onkyo 809 sa mga owner? Kaya ba niya idrive ang B&W 600 series 7.2 or monitor audio 7.2?  ;D ;D

Around 75wpc fairly clean with all channels driven (~60w would be a nice conservative rating).

It shouldn't have a problem with the B&W 600 series upto the 684. The 683 is quite a bit more demanding than the lower models (it would work, but I'd personally prefer something beefier for this model).

The Monitor Audio RX line is made up of speakers designed to be reasonably easy to power. The 809 would motivate them just fine. Just remember to demo this before buying, as I've encountered people not liking the combination.

Gurus,

Quick question and tips. I'm using 706 and the listening mode options I can have while watching bluray movies are Theater DImensional, Stereo, MultiChannel Stereo, Mono, Full mono only. Nothing about DTS, DD, THX, etc. I'm streaming downloaded Bluray movies from my laptop, then to my PS3 via PS3 Media Server and HDMI to the AVR.

My set up is 3.1

As per the manual, I can even listen to DD Pro Logic II / EX, DTS Neo 6, etc. even with just the 3.1 set up. Any ideas, suggestions?

TIA.

Hi sir. thanks for the reply. but my concern really, is other "listening options" are not available even if I'm watching bluray movies. I know some factors are: not all bluray format movies carry all types of listening modes (audio formats), 2nd, the speaker available in my set up (currently 3.1). but the thing is, as per the manual, http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/own_manuals/SN_29344723_TX-SR706_En_web.pdf?CFID=1980314&CFTOKEN=36822334&jsessionid=f0305c03ea9a1c724f1833f7f70419105849  even if 3.1, I should at least, can use Dolby Prologic, or DTS Neo. but in my case, wala.

as per manual, Dolby ProLogic IIx/Dolby EX/DTS Neo:6 requires surround back/surround back L-R (6.1/7.1)

Not sure why Prologic II is unavailable, possible it requires surround L-R (5.1)

if you're not getting DTS or Dolby Digital listening modes [ala Straight Decode], possible na stereo or multichannel output yung nanggagaling from PS3.

AFAIK, when properly setup, PS3 only bitstreams DD/DTS lossy/lossless when playing BD and AVCHD. everything else (USB, streaming, in-game sounds) is in stereo/multichannel PCM

Also, check the file of the blu-ray movie you are playing. Audio encoded could just be AC3 or some other format and not DTS or Dolby. A good indicator usually (90%, i guess) is that the file size is beyond 4GB for a 2 hour film.

not really that relevant as ProLogic/Neo:6 listening modes are post-processing effects that can be applied to AC3, DTS, and PCM streams alike. you do raise a good point though as media files would either contain stereo or multichannel-surround streams

thanks for taking time to reply guys.
