I have budget constraints. 3009 is unreachable at the moment even if I want to. Front fascia of 3008 looks awesome too.

dalawang option nya for sure hehe

3008 or 1009
both of them will be good enough to drive his speakers

bro vg madaling iset-up ang audyssey ng 3008 using 8 locations. Yung last set-up ko sakto  yung calibration niya of the speakers but I always tweak the settings to my preference.  So far  no issues for me, ultra nice for ht especially if you can maximize the 9.2 channel set-up(prefer ko front wide then front heights. Nice din for music lalo na if you use  all 9 channels, wide ang soundstage. I acquired  a 3 channel power amp just. to make sure kasi 9 channels yung pinpapagana. And buy the 3008 a fan kasi talagang mainit yung top niya.  For  the usb it can detect hdd(tried a wd elements 2tb). yung burr brown chipset ng 3 series iba sa 1 series, parang kapareho ng 1 series yung sa 8 series. HTH

Totally agree but to be honest with I still prefer the sound without the auto calibration. I still prefer manual calibration

Ako bro after calibration I still tweak some parameters especially crossover frequencies and channel levels.
Saka Dynamic EQ and volume are helpful lalo na sa night time viewing :)

Naconsider ko din yung 818 boss but at my price limitation parang mas cost effective pa din yung 3008 and besides pareho naman silang Xt 32.

Very informative boss. At the moment i would like power up my speakers para hindi bitin ang tunog. Later on, I would like to upgrade my amp and hopefully go for hi end speakers also

Sir what speakers are you planning to pair with the 3008? Are you goin dual subs? Multieq xt32 advantage against multieq xt is that xt32 can calibrate 2 subs.

Afaik, MultEQ XT32 can also apply more and more precise filters, which could help get the actual system response closer to Audyssey's target (versus lower implementations).

Thanks.  It will be airfreight. My budget was supposed to be 20k only so lagpas na talaga sya but very willing to spend that if 609 is worth it.  I'm not planning to upgrade my speakers and hopefully this receiver will improve my Diamond 9.1, 9.CS, Studio 2 surround (to replace with 9.SR) and PSW110 over my old entry level Yamaha RX-V361. Room is not that big:

a bit technical Veegee but this explanation of sir Ivan is the best reason why I would go for the 3008 though older model compared to newer model 818, im sure sir Ivan would oblige if we ask some layman explanation of what more precise filter is all about

since the 3008 is cheaper compared to the 818 or 3009, you can enjoy high end features present in both the 818 and 3009 and a chance to save some money to get a better speaker set in the future. The 3008 used to cost 2K USD and above, Amazon price is very erratic, once a bargain comes along and you really like the item, grab it, I got my RC HT 180 before for close to 800 USD, after a while it became around 550 USD, after just a couple of moths or so, the HT RC180 went back to 800 plus USD, same thing for higher models, im sure the price of the 3008 right now may not be the same a few weeks or months from now.

Sir Tirso,

I was able to purchase an onkyo 818 for only US$846.00 a couple of weeks ago. Now it went back to: $1,199.00  ;D ;D ;D

All in all, I spent approx. 45k pesos for this. Onkyo 3008 is in the 1.9k US$ while the 3009 is 1.3k US$ in amazon.

Just a quick question. Will it not be an overkill to match the 609 with Diamond 9.1/CS? Do you recommend bi-amping my 9.1?  Thanks again!

I am fantasizing about B&W or MA  Floorstanders speakers. Dual subs may be a possibilty in the future since my good boss is giving me his paradigm subs daw. That would make 2 subs for me.

If ever, I wont source it from US though and in the place where I am getting the 3008, 818 is not available yet. Its good that I am getting a better deal and the newer 3009 is less expensive than the 3008.

Ok lang yan sir, basta wala na sa warranty hehe! Baka kasi mamaya sisihin mo ako pag nasira tapos hindi ka makapag avail ng warranty.  ;D

At kung hair blower ang gagamitin mo i think mas advisable kung yung cool air lang or pede din siguro yung manual blower na ginagamit sa mga SLR.  ;)

Ako gamit ko paint brush na soft bristles and electronic contact cleaner.

According to the tech that i talked to, mas maganda kung at least every year eh mabukasan mo yung AVR to remove the dust specially pag AC yung room mo.. Kasi kung may accumulated dust yung AVR tapos naka AC, yung moisture after the AC ang mag papatigas sa namuong alikabok.. Or sometimes pag humid yung room mo specially ngayong tag ulan... Just be careful not to move any internal parts.. blower(yung ginagamit sa DSLR) and soft brush will do..
